4 BIM Task Group Core team member responsible for work packages relating to: Delivery and Productivity (Plan of Works, Levels of Definition / Detail, COBie-UK-2012, PAS 1192:2 / 3, Data Management) Work package leader for Libraries and Standards Interface with the Buildoffsite community.

5 Ministry of Justice - Engagement Extensive meetings with MOJ throughout October 2011; 3 x workshops from November 2011 to end January 2012: Delivery Management; Commercial processes; Technical Stakeholders assembled from across the project lifecycle; Workshops used to develop MOJ process maps and also deliver the Implementation Strategy; Lots of work between workshops to improve the maps and prepare for the next one!

6 Engagement Develop a common understanding of the BIM proposals and identify current capabilities and implementation issues; Consider information needs at key stages; Consider opportunities for early demonstration and / or adoption; Identify and agree how benefits of BIM implementation can be identified and measured. Consider training needs for the implementation phase; Report to the cross-government groups; Develop standard procedure and protocols for use of BIM on MoJ contracts; Consider how BIM will integrate with existing facility management and estate management systems; Consider how business as usual can be maintained throughout the implementation.

23 What next? Having a BIM strategy in place allowed us to consider new ways of working. We used BIM as a launch pad for a number of initiatives to further reduce time and cost while increasing productivity in design, cost and operation. The new prison estate transformation programme is being used as BIM exemplar and to test the use of advanced manufacturing techniques. Here s how we did it
