1 Project: Sorang Hydro Electric Project MW Overview: M/s.Himachal Sorang Pvt.Ltd., Hyderabad, is developing the Run of the River Sorang Hydro Electric Project (100MW) in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh State, on the Sorang stream, a tributary to Sutlej River. The Project consists the Construction of : 1) A Concrete Trench diversion weir 59m long and 7.10m high 2) An intake structure and desilting chamber with control gates 3) A head race tunnel 3.4m dia horse shoe shaped and 1540m long 4) A surge shaft 6.5m dia and 48m deep 5) Penstock tunnel 3.4m dia, 44m long 6) Penstocks 3.25m dia and 965m long to lead a design discharge of cumecs 7) An underground power house 77.50m long x 16.5m wide and housing 2 generating units of 50MW each 8) The short tail race tunnel to discharge the water to the Sutlej river. The power house has 2 Nos.50MW capacity vertical axis pelton wheel turbines operating under a maximum head of 667m and a rated discharge of 8.67 cumecs per unit and vertical axis, synchronous generators. The scheme has indoor Transformers and GIS. The annual generation of 524 Gwhrs will be transmitted through 18kms of 220kV transmission lines to Kotla sub station. Design Group has handled planning and the preparation of DPR and its processing for clearances upto financial closure and is presently handling the Detail Design Engineering including bid preparation for various packages and assistance in fixing up agencies.
