Question 1: Why is there a given quantity and unit price per square yard for Bid Items 1-3 when the specifications state that the contractor is responsible for their own quantity estimates and to provide a lump sum amount, which would not result in an extended price but a lump sum amount? Answer 1: The Contractor is to verify the estimated measurements, as the submitted lump sum bid price for each bid item 1, 2 & 3 will be used as bases for full payment whether the City s estimate is either over or under of the estimated square yards to complete the required work for each 1, 2 & 3 Bid Items. The Extended Price is the lump sum price. The City s intent is to identify the unit price per square yard used to come up with the lump sum price based on the City s estimate. Question 2: Please confirm that Bid Items 4-10 will be measured in place and paid for at the proposed unit prices based on the actual quantity. Answer 2: Bid items 4-10, will be measured and paid by the actual quantity of work performed using the submitted unit price per item. Question 3: Are there any detailed plans for the actual removal and replacement of concrete items or is the owner just making an educated guess on the estimated quantities? Seems the quantities would had to have been derived by some type of survey of existing conditions. Answer 3: The quantities of Bid Items 4-10, are City estimates (plus or minus), of work to be performed by reviewing the area. There are no detailed plans for this. Payment will be made using the unit price submitted per quantity of work performed. Question 4: 6" Sidewalk Detail calls for a 12" stabilized subbase while the specifications (5-E) calls for compaction by sled tamping exposed subgrade. Which subgrade is to be required as the stabilized subgrade is far more expensive?

The contractor is to exercise do care when removing any concrete to minimize the disturbance to the subgrade. The intent of (5-e) is to compact the material already in place prior to any placement of new concrete. Question 5: What type of subgrade is required below the curb? Answer 5: The subgrade will be dirt if needed within the work areas. Question 6: Please provide a detail on how the asphalt is to be repaired where removed and replaced curb or new curb matches existing pavement. Answer 6: Please review #4 General Specifications (N). Question 7: Specifications call for removing any existing asphalt from curb. Will contractor be required to fill curb with new asphalt or just leave new asphalt high at curb lip? Answer 7: No new asphalt on Curbs. New asphalt will be match existing elevation of edge of curb. Question 8: Page 47 of 63 in the document states SP9.5 TLC PG with a maximum of 15% RAP. Please clarify which asphalt will be required. Answer 8: The bid tender form for Bid Items 1, 2 & 3 does state Type S III asphalt under description of work and is INCORRECT. The Type Requested for this Bid is SP9.5 TLC PG with a maximum of 15% RAP as stated under Procedures And Materials, (p) Asphaltic Concrete Surface Course (# 3) Asphaltic Concrete on page (47). Question 9: Line items 1-3 are calling for a virgin S-III mix. However, the asphalt spec on page 47 states an SP 9.5 with 15% RAP to be used. Can you provide some clarification? Answer 9: The bid tender form for Bid Items 1, 2 & 3 does state Type S III asphalt under description of work and is INCORRECT. The Type Requested for this Bid is SP9.5 TLC PG with a maximum of 15% RAP as stated under Procedures And Materials, (p) Asphaltic Concrete Surface Course (# 3) Asphaltic Concrete on page (47).
