TEEB Related Research Activities in China an overview TIAN Yu Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences
Background to assess the overall contribution of ecosystems to social and economic well-being; to understand how and why economic actors use ecosystems as they do; to assess the relative impact of alternative actions so as to help guide decision-making.
Outline Review on scientific research Statistic analysis on scientific researches Status and a case study on forest ecosystem TEEB related programs in process
Development mid 1990s-- end 1980s-- Environmental problems New words come our Policy making needs
Statistic analysis 481 research papers in Chinese
Spatial Pattern Researches on ecosystem services Researches on forest ecosystem services
Classifications in two different ways Scales Ecosystem types
Statistics on our reviewed papers Type Scale national basin province city zone Total forest grassland farmland wetland river ocean total

Economic value indicator system for Natural capital Based on the Ecosystem function Economic value indicator system for Ecosystem services Based on both Ecosystem functions and forest products
Perspective
Case study Decision making on where and how to implement afforestation and reforestation measures will not only help to secure carbon sequestration, but also benefit biodiversity conservation and the provision of ecosystem services (so-called co-benefits ). Spatial analyses with spatial specific datasets on carbon, biodiversity and ecosystem services can be served as an effective tool to explore co-benefits and guide decision-making process on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
