After Workshop notice is provided, no new matters can be added to an agenda. Quorum of Council is not required for a Workshop. Members of the public attending a Workshop are permitted to observe the public session. No decisions or directions to staff can be made at the Workshop. Any matter requiring a Council decision must be reported back to Committee or Council for consideration and approval. The City Clerk s Office will prepare minutes from the Workshop. Public session minutes are available for public review if a request is received.

4 Preparing for the Conference Beginning week of July 31, calendar invites will be sent to Council with all confirmed meeting details Draft briefing & proposed speaking notes will be circulated electronically to Council beginning week of July 31 Conference binders will include hard copies of: o Ministerial Bios o Briefing & Speaking Notes o City of Brampton Specific Calendar (Meetings, keynote address, etc.) o Maps, meeting room locations and other relevant information speakers are for discussion purposes only, and should be considered as draft 3
5 Delegation Request & Asks Transportation Monday, August 14, :45 am 10 am 1. Partner with the City on strategic transit projects: a. Light Rail Transit Extension Environmental Assessment Study (LRT Extension EA) from Brampton Gateway Terminal to Brampton GO b. The master plans for the three Mobility Hubs identified in The Big Move c. Recognize Mount Pleasant GO as a mobility hub in the Regional Transportation Plan Update. Asks 2. Expedite current plans for Regional Express Rail (RER) to be completed prior to 2025 along the Kitchener GO line, and extend Two-Way All-Day GO Rail service along Canada s Innovation Super Corridor to Kitchener-Waterloo as soon as possible. a. High Speed Rail must be in addition to Two-Way All-Day GO Rail service to Kitchener-Waterloo, and include a station in Brampton. b. Construct the new Missing Link freight bypass rail corridor to divert CN freight traffic off the Kitchener GO line as soon as possible, thereby enabling Two-Way All-Day GO Rail service. 3. The Minister of Transportation make a decision, by the end of 2017, to proceed with completing the GTA West Corridor EA Study in order to identify and protect a preferred route as soon as possible. 7 Advanced Education & Skills Development Pending Commit to Brampton s new university facility more than 50 per cent of the Province s currently promised $180 million to fund new university facilities in Brampton and Milton. Asks Commit to joining and facilitating partnerships to support growing a centre of education, innovation and collaboration in Brampton that includes a postsecondary institution with student base beyond the initial plan for 1,000. 8 Infrastructure Pending Ask Work with the City on specific capital funding opportunities to support shared services for a post-secondary facility in Brampton, and necessary infrastructure to develop a centre for education, innovation and collaboration. 9 Municipal Affairs Pending To ensure full and fair representation immediately, enact legislation to increase Brampton s representation at Region of Peel Council to 11, including the Mayor and all Councillors, in time for the 2018 municipal election. Asks Enact changes to the Building Code Act and Planning Act to give expanded rights of entry for municipalities for the purpose of inspecting secondary units and illegal multi-unit dwellings. 10 Natural Resources & Forestry Pending Asks The City of Brampton requests the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to partner with the City to fully support the development and implementation of the Riverwalk project. Councillor Elaine Moore (Primary) Councillor Grant Gibson (Secondary) 9
11 Finance Pending Asks Provide municipalities with appropriate revenue tools to meet growing responsibilities and budgetary pressures today and in the future. Work with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and municipalities to find solutions to the loss in revenue created by illegal secondary units. 12 Health & Long Term Care Pending (Minister Hoskins not attending. Potential opportunity to meet with PA John Fraser) Asks The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care partner with the City of Brampton on the health care cluster planned to be developed within the four-acre site around the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness (the Partnership Lands ).
