16 Outputs and Results Quantitative Indicators Results (1 st year of operation) Reduction of Energy Costs 22% Reduction of operating and administrative costs of drinking water distribution (minimizing HR costs) No need for regular travel to remote field locations 14% Reduction of Non-Revenue Water 15% Application of new technological standards (measuring equipment) minimize water losses 6 Detection time of leakage in the entire network Reliable calculation of water losses, frequent access to detailed data and data security Improve relations of trust among consumers and services/customer Complaints Reduction Real time 22% 30% Water Quality Improvement 100%
17 Outputs and Results Qualitative short and long term result indicators Reliable calculation of water losses, frequent access to detailed data and data security Capacity building of Water Operators, simple software and easy integration into the WSN Application of innovative tools and methodological approach in the whole water supply network Highlight the importance of quantifying water losses in high touristic areas Long term cost savings Avoiding billing errors that end in consumers complaints Decision-making based on reliable data and not on ' estimates ' or ' knowledge or experience ' Better overall management of drinking water (consumption profiles per household day, period, region, etc.) Socially fair drinking water pricing in compliance with WFD
18 Next Steps Application of the integrated monitoring system to the entire WSN of Igoumenitsa s water utility Redefinition of the existing DMAs and PMAs Application of an integrated monitoring system of water consumption through the replacement of obsolete water meters with smart water meters of high metering accuracy Connection of the metering consumption system with the Central Control Station through the utilization of specialized software Establishment & training of water operators using appropriate hardware and software for the system s operation improvement (Maintenance Planning and Asset Management) & the monitoring of appropriate indicators Decision Support Tool for the Development and Infrastructure Master Planning Prioritization (short-term & long-term, ie pipeline replacement plan) Connection with existing accounting systems for the development of Full Water Cost Recovery strategy and pricing policy according to WFD 60/2000
