4 NATIONAL ENERGY POLICY National energy needs will continue to increase along with economic growth, population, living standards, technology and the demands of environmental requirements. The tendency of the use of energy types in the future will shift towards technologybased energy than the resource-based energy (fossil fuel), this was felt as a result of depletion of fossil energy supplies after being exploited for so long. 4

5 To meet the energy needs through optimum energy mix, i.e., by utilizing all types of energy without discrimination and not to wait for another type of energy is running low (non-depletion). Energy Security (Energy Security) and the mitigation of climate change is absolutely necessary for the survival of the nation and state. 5

9 NATIONAL STRATEGY for NUCLEAR POWER INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT Since NEPIO or the owner is not yet defined, the preparation of nuclear infrastructure is implemented through issue-specific inter-agency teams. The institution members of the teams are those directly related to on the objectives to be achieved, for example, institutions members of the team for human resources development are MEMR (Ministry of Energy), BATAN, Bapeten (regulatory body), etc. The activities are implemented using budget of each involved institutions

10 Status of National Nuclear Power Infrastructure Development BATAN requested the IAEA to perform an Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review Mission (INIR) under the framework of TC programme (INS/4/037) in a letter dated on 5 August An INIR mission provides an external peer reviews conducted by the IAEA in November 23 27, 2009 INIR mission shows that Indonesia has done extensive preparatory work on most infrastructure issues that would allow the country to make decision to further consider introduction of nuclear power, i.e. to go from phase 1 to phase 2 in Milestone methodology.

22 BATAN, has launched public information and education programs. The vision of the program is to develop public understanding on the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. BATAN has been conducted a survey and pooling. Survey method used was face to face interview with a combination of stratified random sampling (multistage sampling) and simple random (simple random sampling). 22

23 The result of the pooling are: Before Fukushima (on November 2010): Nationally (3,000 respondents): 59.7% agree, 26.1% not agree and 14.2% abstain. After Fukushima: Nationally (2011), 3000 respondents: 49.5% agree, 35.5% not agree and 15% abstain Bangka Belitung Site (2011), 500 respondents: 35.0% agree, 31.6% not agree and 33.4% abstain 23
