2 Welcome to Revenue Assurance for Power Course Facilitator: Uzoma D. Achinanya Engr. Uzoma D. Achinanya is currently the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Emtech Energy Services Ltd, a multidisciplinary consultancy and service delivery firm with specialist expertise in Electricity Utility Management and Infrastructure Development. Prior to 2012, when he became the MD/CEO of Emtech Energy, he was in the Nigerian Electricity Industry, where he served for 31 years, in many capacities and at various locations After two years training in the general Electricity Industry practice, Engr. Achinanya was posted to the 560MW Jebba Hydro Electric Power Station, where he participated in the commissioning of the hydro generators. He was transferred to the Transmission Sector of the Industry where he served as a Protection Engineer for six years. He was further redeployed to the Distribution Sector, where he served ten years as the District Manager for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and one year as the Assistant General Manager (Distribution). While in the Distribution Sector, he was responsible for network planning, construction and operation Engr. Achinanya served as the Assistant General Manager in charge of metering for the industry. There, he was responsible for the specification, calibration, testing and administration of Electricity Metering systems, nation-wide (revenue and grid). Following the commencement of the reform of the Nigerian Electricity Industry in 2004, he was appointed the first Market Operator for the Industry. He rose from the position of Assistant General Manger to General Manager and Executive Director, Market Operations. His major roles as the Market Operator included administration of the Market Rules and Procedures for the Nigerian Electricity Market, as well as administration of the Metering System for the trading points, administration of Market Settlement and Collection and Payment Systems. As the Market Operator, he was also the Business Analyst for the Nigerian Electricity Market. In July 2010, he was appointed the Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Electric Power Distribution and Market Operations. He was the Senior Performance Monitor for the Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP). He holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He also holds an MBA in Marketing and M.sc. degree in Economics, both from the Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu, Nigeria. Your comprehensive look at preventing revenue loss.
