3 Earn up to 40% Commission + Prizes 33% + Prizes Base Commission All units start with the base commission Add 3% Grow Your Sale Increase your 2016 sale by $1 over last year to add 3% Add 4% No Returns Sale Have no returned cases at the end of the sale to add 4%. Yes, units doing only Take Order or Online sales already qualify, because no returns are involved. Prizes & Incentives for Scouts PRIZES Scouts may choose a prize from the catalog provided by Trail s End, based on their total sale. Prizes are based on individual sales. Each Scout may select one prize from the sales level reached, or from a combination of lower levels. TOP SELLERS EVENT Top-selling Scouts will be invited to an event after the sale. Details will be announced. ONLINE SALES Scout with the highest online sales between Aug 1-Oct 31 will receive a $50 gift card. $250 sales minimum to qualify. $600 CLUB Cub Scouts who sell $600 will receive a StickBot Studio Pro. Boy Scouts who sell $600 will receive a 7-Function Survivor Tool. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS Scouts who sell $2,500 or more are eligible for a Trail s End Scholarship. Trail s End will create an account for each qualifying Scout and deposit 6% of the Scout s total sale into the account. Money will stay in your scholarship account and grow until college. 4 UNIT POPCORN KERNEL Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW: Communicate, Inspire, Organize and Lead your unit in a successful popcorn sale that meets the unit s planned funding needs. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend District Kick-off Popcorn Training. Work with your unit committee, schedule, promote and conduct a unit popcorn kick-off. Ensure families understand the unit s plan for selling popcorn, each Scout s sales goal and the incentive/rewards for selling. Build excitement around the sale! Collect and communicate all necessary paperwork according to the sales. Submit your unit s popcorn orders by September 2 for Show and Sell product and October 28 for Take Order Product orders. Prize order is due October 28. Make arrangements to pick up popcorn at the designated site on pick up day (distribution). Make sure to bring vehicles large enough to accommodate your order. Collect all money and submit no later than your District Roundtable. One check made payable to Oregon Trail Council.

5 SALES METHODS Option 1: Sell Online ( , Facebook, etc) Your Scouts can reach additional faraway friends and family when they sell popcorn online. Go to sell.trails-end.com to login or create an account. Scouts can use , Facebook, texting, and social media to share their sale. Track online sales at the same address. From Aug 1 - Oct 31, commissions from the online sales will credit to the unit for their total sale, commission and prizes for the Scouts. Scouts get credit for online sales and get prizes too. Commission to units (and from the unit s Scouts) from online sales will be deposited into the unit s account monthly when commission checks come in. Option 2: Take Order Sales (door-to-door) This is the classic order-form-based sales method. Scouts fill up their forms with orders and deliver the product later. This is most commonly done door-to-door, but also parent workplaces or church. This sale provides Scouts the opportunity to sell product to friends, relatives, neighbors, and others without having the popcorn in-hand. Units then order popcorn based on the orders received from individual Scout Take Order forms. Take Order sales are the most effective method per hour.

6 Option 3: Show n Sell (storefront or door-to door) With popcorn in-hand, a group of Scouts and leaders sell popcorn in front of a store, business, or other busy place. Your pack or troop need to get permission to sell in front of a location. Contact your District Kernel for site sale scheduling where stores are shared. Have plenty of products on-hand. Store extra product under the table. Provide samples Put up a sign that says Boy Scout Popcorn Sale or Send Scouts to Camp. Different Scouts can work at the table during the day. Also sell it door-to door, parent s workplace, or church. Advantage: No return trip required. Customers are happy and money is collected. TIPS Determining What to Order Set a reasonable unit or per Scout goal and order enough to meet your goal. Do not order much more than what your unit sold last year. You can often get more product from the council office or neighboring units if you sell out. Show n Sell popcorn is distributed September Sale ends on October 23 At the end of the sale, it s best to use any product left from your Show n Sell to fill any Take Order sales first, before you consider returns. Unsold full cases can be returned. Preferably, your unit may return it before this date, but this is the absolute deadline. Any product not returned will be charged to the unit s sale.

7 TRAIL S END POPCORN SYSTEM Product is ordered through the Popcorn System, which is accessible through sell.trails-end.com. If you do not have a sign in, please contact Crystal at the Council office, or cmischel@otcbsa.org. Logging In 1. Go to sell.trails-end.com. If it is your first time logging in, use the Trail s End username provided to Reset your Password 2. Once your password is reset, type your username in the Username box. 3. Type your password in the Password box. 4. Click Sign In Logging Out 1. Locate the word Logout by clicking on the gray circle in the top right corner 2. Click Logout and the system logs you out. Once you re in, here s what options you have. We recommend you do the following: List each Scout in your unit. Scouts with online selling accounts linked to your unit will automatically appear in your Scout list Place your unit s popcorn order Show and Sell / Take Order online (Submit to Council). Place your unit s prize order online (Submit to Council). Create packing slips and checkout slips for each Scout s order. Create Scout Accounts Receivable reports. 8 PICKING UP POPCORN To make it easy for your unit to pick up your popcorn order, we have sites conveniently located throughout Oregon Trail Council. In each district, September and November you can pick up product. Mid-size car (including back seat) Standard SUV (w/seats down) Minivan (w/seats down) Full Size SUV (w/seats down) Pickup Truck (full bed) 20 Cases 40 Cases 60 Cases 70 Cases 90 Cases PAYMENT After delivery and collection are finished, bring one (1) check for just your product costs and keep your commissions. Make check payable to Oregon Trail Council no later than your District Roundtable in December for the remainder of the money owed for the sale. END OF SALE SETTLEMENTS No more waiting for your commission check to arrive! Send in one check for what is due to Oregon Trail Council, based on a final report available through the popcorn system. The rest is your commission.
