4 SETTING THE SCENE REPOSE Repose is a restaurant (based in Inverness) which has been taken over by 2 friends of yours Sarah and Steven Alexander. They have asked you to use your administration skills to help them run the business effectively and efficiently. 5 Task 1 Sarah is going to a Good Food Exhibition in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow next Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm. She wants to stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel in the city centre. Sarah would like to take the train to Glasgow on Tuesday. However, before she can travel she has a number of engagements to attend on Tuesday. Firstly, between 10 and am, she is meeting with Mr MacLean in the restaurant to discuss arrangements for the party. She also wants to go to the daily staff briefing at 11 am this only lasts half an hour. At 12 noon she is due to attend a Local Traders Association lunch in the Castle Hotel, Inverness until 1.30 pm after which time she is free to travel. Sarah is staying with friends in Glasgow on Wednesday night and is arranging her own travel on Thursday after she has met with Jessica Khan. Jessica runs a catering supplies company and has arranged to meet with Sarah in her office at 12 Chapel Street, Glasgow G6 7TS at am. She may want to go to the King s Theatre, Glasgow on Wednesday evening and has asked you to find out what is on. Complete the task. Prepare an Itinerary for Sarah which should include details of all appointments. Print a copy of the travel times clearly indicating times selected. 6 SETTING THE SCENE GoSport plc GoSport plc is a company which sells sportswear (based in Edinburgh). You work as an assistant in the Administrative Support Department of Head Office and have been given several tasks to complete. 7 Task 2 The Sales Manager, Claire Thomas, has asked you to make arrangements for her to visit the Perth and Inverness branches next Monday and Tuesday. She wishes to travel by train. Claire has a half-hour meeting in Head Office on Monday at 9 am with the Finance Manager to discuss new pricing and she must stay at Head Office for a conference call booked for 9.45 am with the Aberdeen and Edinburgh Branch Managers. She is getting a lift to Perth and will arrive at the Perth branch at 12 o clock. She wants you to use the Internet to research the other travel arrangements for use in an Itinerary. Claire would like to spend around 2 hours in the Perth branch and then travel to Inverness. She wants to stay in a 3-star hotel (with leisure facilities). Include a dinner reservation for Claire and Emily (the Branch Manager) for 8.30 pm at the hotel. Inverness is the newest of the branches and Claire wants a general look around the shop as well as having a brief meeting with the 2 sales assistants. Emily has arranged for them both to be available one at 9.30 am and one at 9.45 am you will find their names in the database. She will then be assisting Emily to interview candidates for the post of Assistant Manager. The interviews will start at 11 am and be over by 1 pm (Emily has all the necessary info). Claire would like to get the next available train back to Edinburgh. Don t worry about taxis to and from the railway stations Claire will organise these herself. Do not book anything.
