The Construction group is responsible for the provision of project management, construction, decommissioning of assets and civil maintenance services across the Connections program, to deliver capital works and asset decommissioning programs. The primary purpose of this role is to lead and oversee delivery of the Connections construction program utilising a mix of internal staff and externally engaged consultants and contractors. Key Accountabilities Manage the timely and successful delivery of various, large and complex multidisciplinary projects and programs of construction and decommissioning work as directed by the Manager, Construction including accountability for cost, time, quality and risk management outcomes. Undertake preparation and management of budgets and cost estimates at a project and program level as required. Undertake procurement activities including the preparation of technical specifications, tender documentation and tender evaluations whilst ensuring achievement of optimum value and compliance with all relevant procurement and probity rules and/or guidelines. Negotiate, supervise and administrate contracts and work packages to deliver construction and civil maintenance services including fulfilling the role of contract Superintendent as required and engagement and supervision of engineering and other specialist consultants as required. 1

Lead the ongoing professional development and mentoring of staff within the Construction Team ensuring consistency of management support and approach within the team. Ensure compliance with all applicable OHS, environmental and cultural heritage legislation, approvals, procedures and policies for all activities carried out which form part of the Construction program. Responsible for management of program data and subsequent monitoring and provision of accurate and timely reporting on key program and project deliverables. Ensure collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (especially customers) ensuring that interaction is delivering optimal project outcomes. The position is predominantly an office based role, however field visits will also be required. The position will require a limited amount of travel and driving for extended periods which will require the occasional requirement to undertake work away from the usual location. Ability to deal with and manage conflict effectively Frequent dealings with external stakeholders and members of the public will be required The incumbent will be expected to effective in the supervision of internal staff, consultants and contractors. The incumbent will be expected to be competent in analysing complex information and writing reports to inform management decisions, especially with regard to projects and programs of work. The incumbent will be expected to have a high level of awareness of and adherence to legislation and all of GMW policies and procedures relevant to the duties undertaken.
