As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. The City Year experience empowers these exceptional and diverse young people to realise their aspirations and grow as leaders, both through their impact on children s lives and through training, coaching and career development opportunities. City Year was first established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1988 and operates in 27 cities across America, as well as Johannesburg in South Africa. City Year UK launched in London in 2010 and has since expanded to Birmingham and Greater Manchester. Our ambition is that by 2020, ten years after launching in the UK, we will be in: five cities; with 500 corps members; reaching over 40,000 children each year. The opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast growing organisation that recruits and develops young leaders to transform the educational and social outcomes of pupils across the UK. The position offers the opportunity to lead on exciting regional attraction work to deliver a pipeline of high quality volunteers excited to apply for the City Year programme. You will have responsibility and autonomy to search for exceptional leaders motivated to drive and shape social change. You will also contribute to delivering an efficient and effective end to end recruitment service, supporting with selection and onboarding processes; to ensure outstanding volunteers are recruited and retained delivering excellent outcomes for the schools and pupils we work with. Recruitment Officer Job Description Reports to: Recruitment Manager (Greater Manchester)

Start date: April 2016 Location: Greater Manchester Salary: 20,000-22,000 dependant on experience Benefits: Up to 5% matched employer contributions Deadline: Applications close at 9am Thursday 21th April 2016 Primary responsibilities 1. Responsibility for the attraction of high quality volunteers aged between 18-25 Ensure the City Year mission, values and messaging are consistently applied in a way that encourages high quality applications; Contribute to the candidate pipeline through: cultivation of relationships with candidates, recruitment partners and academic institutions; Build positive relationships with Colleges, Universities and aligned organisations to attract high quality volunteers; Coordinate information sessions and workshops, internally and externally; Respond to enquiries from potential recruitment partners and academic institutions; Attend key recruitment events including university and careers fairs and acts as an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and professional advocate for City Year UK; Support volunteers in developing skills to lead external/internal recruitment events; Ensure maintenance of detailed records and databases to continuously evaluate and improve the recruitment campaign; Continuously reflect and evaluate attraction success to ensure we deliver value for money and effective use of resources. 2. Selection of high quality volunteers aged between 18-25 Ensure an outstanding candidate experience throughout selection process; Provide advice, guidance and information about the application process; Conduct initial screening of applications, checking and confirming eligibility and shortlisting candidates for assessment centres; Lead on the coordination and processing of all aspects of the screening and assessment centre process Take a hands on approach in screening and assessing candidates against the required skills and attributes required to be a City Year volunteer; Supporting the Head of Recruitment in developing candidate assessment tools and processes. Seeking opportunities to develop best practice in the sector; Produce timely and accurate data for Head of Recruitment and/or stakeholders as requested; Monitor, review and evaluate the selection process data to ensure the best outcomes for department and candidate; Deliver feedback calls to candidates. 3. Complete onboarding checks for our volunteers Complete processing of required checks for confirmed volunteers (e.g. DBS checks and reference requests);

Support the Programme Team with allocating volunteers to appropriate school teams; 4. Monitor and evaluate systems and processes Ensure that Salesforce is kept updated with full and accurate records; Regular reporting to support with data analysis, the success and efficiency of all functions of team (candidate attraction, assessment and onboarding); 5. Support the recruitment team with wider responsibilities: Support Progression department with delivering training for our volunteers; Updating recruitment and admissions related information on City Year website and social media; Support other team members in achieving department goals; To support the team with administrative tasks at peak times; To undertake projects and research as required to broaden own knowledge and contribute to the wider success of the team; To undertake any other duties as directed by the Head of Recruitment and Progression. Person specification Experience and knowledge Experience of working within a recruitment, university, college or careers setting; Experience of using an ATS (applicant tracking system) or CRM database; Experience of working within a data driven setting; An awareness of good data management practice e.g. Data Protection;

Knowledge of UK school leaver and graduate markets; Experience of working with a range of stakeholders; Understanding of education sector (desirable); Understanding of youth social action (desirable); Understanding of volunteer sector (desirable).
