2 Job description The role of the Examinations and Assessment Manager is to manage the examinations and assessment processes for Aston Medical School (AMS). This will include the day to day running, organisation and delivery of the assessment and examinations process for the School s taught programmes. The manager will work with relevant academics, administrators and external parties. You will also lead, contribute to or support other activities for the School and its programmes and work closely with other colleagues to ensure the effective operation of the AMS School Office Main Duties/Responsibilities: Providing pro-active support in the planning, preparation and completion of examinations and assessment activity. Support should provide specialist advice and guidance in relation to regulations (such as Board of Examiners, Exceptional Circumstances, GMC etc.) Managing assessment packages, entering data on SITS and generating student assessment records. Ensuring timely entering and accuracy of assessment marks. Managing the production and preparation of data for Examination and Assessment Boards, ensuring that all relevant information is provided. Notifying students of the outcome of Boards. Managing the production, preparation, timetabling and running of examinations as required. This includes producing and providing examination packs and other key information and guidance. Liaising with DANU and the Student Support Lead with regards to any additional needs/support. Administering the Exceptional Circumstances and Absences Panel (ECAP) ensuring the accurate recording and communication of decisions. Ensuring the appropriate implementation of systems and/or processes to respond to University wide, or external factors such as GMC or QAA requirements. Managing exam board membership and producing the School s examination board schedule; communicating these to all relevant staff both internally and externally. Assisting with the external examiner process from appointment though to attendance at exam boards. Supporting students and staff with the use of eassessment packages. Ensuring relevant data and information is available to the Programme staff as required. Carry out regular systems and process reviews with a view to streamlining where possible and to ensure maximum efficiency. Leading or supporting key School Office projects, responsibilities and activities working closely with other members of the School Office team, and representing the School at relevant meetings and events. Any other reasonable duties that may be delegated consistent with the nature and grading of the post.

Ensure and promote the personal health, safety and wellbeing of staff and students. Carry out duties in a way which promotes fairness in all matters and which engenders trust. 4 Person specification Education and qualifications Experience Aptitude and skills Other Essential Undergraduate degree. Experience of working within Further or Higher Education. Experience of developing, implementing and managing administrative systems and processes. Knowledge and experience of assessment administration and related processes and procedures. Ability to use University IT packages (SITS, Agresso). Ability to work to tight timescales. Strong organisational, planning and management skills and able to multi-task effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and confident in representing the School at various meetings or events and able to deal with a wide range of people including senior staff and external contacts. Ability to gather, interpret and analyse data. A strong flexible and proactive approach with a high degree of initiative and an ability to develop new ideas and systems. Analytical and problem solving skills confident in finding solutions without continual reference to others. Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail.
