GREENPEACE Australia Pacific Role: Department: Grade: 6 Creative Coordinator Program Date reviewed: November 2017 Responsible to: Direct Reports: Overall purpose of the role JOB DESCRIPTION Deputy Program Director (Engagement) Multimedia Producer works closely with contractors, interns and volunteers. The Creative Coordinator builds support and profile for Greenpeace and its campaigns in the Australia Pacific region through creative work that inspires people to act for a green and peaceful future. This role develops, produces, curates and selectively distributes multimedia across Greenpeace Australia Pacific channels. They actively monitor and engage with traditional and social media, respond to external inquiries, commission creative material, coordinate inhouse and external agency multimedia production, and maintain a database of external suppliers. By providing strategic and technical expertise, the position also facilitates internal development plans, supporting other staff and the implementation of best practice standards for creative content production and distribution across the organisation. 1. Coordination and strategic input Develop and execute strong creative content plans for all major campaigns Advise campaign teams on the best visual communications strategies and tactics Work closely with project teams to produce and/or project manage both proactive and reactive content through a mix of traditional and social media platforms Develop in conjunction with the story team the organisation s overall content strategy Provide insight on which story angles will be most effective and advise campaign projects on forthcoming opportunities. Contribute to the Greenpeace Australia Pacific story/editorial team 2. Management Monitor incoming content briefs and allocate capacity Direct line management of the Multimedia Producer, including conducting regular meetings and bi-annual performance reviews Recruit, train and manage multimedia volunteers as required Manage the allocated budget for creative content production Request and reforecast budgets as required Oversee the management of Greenpeace audio and visual resources and equipment Manage multimedia archiving with the Multimedia Producer, interns and volunteers, for cross-departmental, network-wide and external use. 3. Commissioning Commission, produce and archive multimedia productions within budget, consistent with Greenpeace s brand guidelines and respect of international copyright laws. Commission clean versions or translation of audio-visual assets for distribution in other language markets as required Manage contracts with creative agencies and freelancers, including negotiating rates and ensuring prompt payment of invoices. 4. Production capacity Plan, shoot, caption, edit and distribute video and photo content, including campaign videos for social media, stock images and footage for campaigns, and reactive soundbites/clips for traditional and social media, ensuring the availability of high quality images to a wide range of Greenpeace Australia Pacific communications channels Support content coordination and production for live-streaming projects. Coordinate photo and video production, with short turnaround times (e.g. for ship visits and large-scale rapid responses in the region), and participates in project teams, as required. 5. Licensing and copyright management Evaluate requests for Greenpeace s multimedia assets, negotiate rates and licensing agreements as appropriate; provide invoicing and payment information. 6. Relationship building and networking Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external allies, agencies, media outlets, artists, contractors and suppliers Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Greenpeace staff internationally and ensure up to date knowledge of Greenpeace s international web presence and developments Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Greenpeace network participants, volunteers and activists. 7. Monitoring, tracking and evaluating Set-up real-time monitoring across relevant communications streams (traditional and social media) to identify opportunities for reactive media relations and campaigning, as well as Greenpeace s impact on relevant public conversations. Evaluate and report on content engagement and performance Build lessons and learnings into action plans to ensure continual improvement. 8. Responsive communication and rapid response Respond to external events or incidents that offer opportunities for the organisation and/or reputational threats to the organisation, as directed Support other staff to develop creative/multimedia response to developments in rapid response campaigns Maintain components of the Greenpeace Australia Pacific website as required. 9. Protocols and standards Contribute to the development of policies and positions that support high quality communications output; facilitate work groups and convene project teams as needed. 11. Visual writing and editing Prepare and/or edit videos, captions, slide shows, macros and other visual content for distribution across Greenpeace International channels. 12. Development of inhouse skills Share skills and provide training in basic image and video production for staff and volunteers. Support other staff to be able to plan, shoot, edit, caption and distribute material for their campaigns Create a staff development plan for individual and departmental improvement in skill and processes in supporting, producing and delivering visual content for campaigns. 13.
