Major Donor Co-ordinator Location: London or regional office in Midlands and North Contract: Permanent Ref: FRD-MDC-20160215 Salary: 27,540 per annum (Plus London Weighting, if based in London) Islamic Relief has an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to become the Major Donor Co-ordinator (Midlands and North). The post holder will be responsible to raise income and build long-term relationships, in line with annually agreed targets and budgets, from major donor opportunities and partnerships, in support of the activities of Islamic Relief. Established in 1984 in response to the widespread famine in Africa, Islamic Relief has grown to be a key, well known and respected aid agency in disaster relief and the ongoing development of people in over 25 countries. It specialises in Education & Training, Health and Nutrition, Water & Sanitation, Income Generation, Orphans Support, Emergency Relief and Disaster Preparedness. Islamic Relief is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and is an implementing partner for DFID, ECHO, the World Food Programme and UNHCR. PURPOSE OF DIVISION (IRUK) Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) that is part of Islamic Relief Worldwide. IRUK s focus is strengthening effective funding, mobilising for change through advocacy and awareness-raising, and strengthening programme development and delivery. PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT (Fundraising): To develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives and through acquisition and retention of volunteers and supporters. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to line manager (Major Gift Manager) Works with the fundraising teams Frequent liaison with current and potential supporters Will need to work with programmes SCOPE AND AUTHORITY Scope of the Role: Develops and manages effective relationships with major donors, utilising effective fundraising mechanisms in order to reach an agreed annual income target Contributes to fundraising and wider team strategy and planning Research and develop new fundraising ideas and income streams Income and other targets to be agreed annually with line manager. Responsibility for Resources: None. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff. The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for: 1. To work with the Major Gift Manager to set key objectives and manage and monitor Major Donor fundraising initiatives and strategy 2. To participate in the development of plans to maximise income from affluent &/or influential individuals, supported by objectives needed to achieve agreed targets 3. Co-ordinates and presents fundraising pitches for new opportunities 4. To explore relationship building opportunities from Major Donors on existing database 5. To develop and maintain individual cultivation and retention strategies for each accountmanaged donor in consultation with the programme unit and the major gift manager and communication unit, as appropriate. 6. To work closely with all sections of the Fundraising Department ensuring opportunities for Islamic Relief are maximised and campaigns are integrated. 7. Provides the day-to-day support for HNW individuals, ensuring they receive accurate updates and reports 8. Identify HNW donors with work colleagues and creates and maintains a contact list, which is regularly updated with relevant information 9. To liaise with the Supporter Care Unit to ensure that all data is captured correctly 10. Maintains accurate income and forecast records 11. To supervise and manage the work of temporary staff, volunteers and interns as required. 12. To ensure that all fundraising approaches build Islamic Relief s brand and reputation 13. Contributes to maintenance of central team filing / administration systems 14. Works with the Department manager to provide support and advice to local branches and management on areas relevant to position as required Page: 3 of 4
