Job description Job Purpose: To provide professional and administrative support to the School of Engineering and Applied Science s (EAS) quality assurance and enhancement activities. The role will support the Quality Team in ensuring compliance with University quality assurance policy, and encourage continuous improvement, especially where it impacts on the student experience and to meet School and University strategic aims. Main Duties/Responsibilities: Acting as a University Design Navigator, taking responsibility for guiding and advising academic staff on modifications to programmes, facilitating module approval, ensuring appropriate consultation with students takes place and identifying where module level changes will impact at programme level. Arranging Programme Specific Approval Panels to consider new programmes. Reviewing information submitted for the University Module Directory against agreed University policy to ensure it is fit for purpose. Working with School staff to develop new partnerships, gathering information for due diligence and risk assessment, and working on draft formal agreements. Proactively managing collaborative activity within the School, ensuring that agreements are enacted and reviewed and remain current. Acting as a primary point of contact for partnerships that do not fall under EAS specialist centres and regularly liaising with those partners to ensure effective communication. Advising partners on University procedures and responding to their requests for information. Promoting innovation and best practice in the development and delivery of collaborative programmes across the School. Ensure the continuing accuracy and completeness of accreditation details published internally and externally, planning and providing support to accreditation events and ensuring that any necessary follow up action is completed. Managing the programme review process, ensuring that programme level reports are completed in a timely fashion, and identifying themes that need to be addressed at a School level, and areas of good practice that warrant wider dissemination. Managing the appointment of External Examiners and their reports and payments. Ensuring that responses to the reports have been completed and assisting with the induction and training for new External Examiners. Acting as Secretary to the School Learning and Teaching Committee and sub-groups. Providing administrative support to Periodic Review events and acting as a Periodic Review Secretary for programmes outside the School, as delegated by the Director of Quality Assurance and Enhancement, drafting the reports for such events. Working with the Student Engagement Co-ordinator to support defined projects relating to the improvement of the student experience. Acting as Secretary to Staff Student Committees on an occasional basis as other work priorities allow. Working with the EAS Quality Officer and Associate Dean Learning and Teaching to ensure the quality and timeliness of information to students within the School. Providing administrative support for specified quality enhancement projects within the School. Keeping up to date with changes to University policies and procedures and advising colleagues as appropriate. Attending Examination Boards where required, to provide guidance on the application and interpretation of regulations. Working as a flexible member of the team carrying out any other duties, as and when required.
