1 Smart Vertical Farm STORY The global problems of world hunger, lack of arable land, and unhealthy diet drive the need to find innovative solutions in farming. Vertical Farming addresses those issues as it is a farming solution that provides crops year-round and does not require a large tract of arable land. It also enables the farmer to address urbanization and bring nutritious crops closer to the communities. An urban farmer wants to bring innovation to his vertical farm that is installed in a 2-story warehouse building. He would like to have more time in growing his business. He also wants to hire new people regardless of educational background. He needs a system that is delightful to use and still covers everything that needs to be managed in his vertical farm. He needs a system that helps him plan his visits to the farm. His visits to the farm must be purposeful so his time is spent well. He needs a system that notifies him specifically of issues that need to be managed. He needs a system that doesn t impose any barriers between him and his new hire. He needs a system that is easy to learn and understand. Page 1 of 7

Do I have enough room in my pickup? Heavy, I need a moving dolly Ugh, I need to check all the locks I have to plan the next harvest and sowing I need to go back tomorrow just to check.
