The Republic of Korea has introduced a comprehensive policy package, including carbon footprint labeling, ecolabeling, green public procurement, green stores, and green credit card system, to stimulate demands in green products as well as accelerate market transition to a greener economy. Building on its experiences, Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) is organizing International SCP Conference on 29 Oct to 1 Nov 2013 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, to share information and knowledge on SCP policies and practices on different aspects. The SCP conference will be held together with ECO EXPO KOREA The SCP conference will consist of the meetings on carbon footprint labeling, ecolabeling, green public procurement, and green finance to create synergies for the mutual learning and the exchange of information among the experts and policy makers around the globe. 2

Since 1995, the EXPO has been one of the most renowned Expos in Korea featuring the newly emerging eco-friendly products and technologies. In 2012, about 220 companies and 44,000 visitors gathered. Asia Carbon Footprint Seminar is to be co-organized by UNESCAP and KEITI on 30 Oct to present current status of carbon labeling implementation in the Asian region and disseminate good practices initiated by public and private sector. 1 st Asia Carbon Footprint Network Meeting is to be co-organized by UNESCAP and KEITI on 31 Oct to discuss how Asian countries could collaborate with each other to promote carbon labeling for ACFN International Green Finance Seminar is to take place on 31 Oct to discuss green finance as a means to tackle climate change and promote corporate sustainability management practices dealing with environmental risks. ASEAN+3 Green Public Procurement & Ecolabeling Expert Meeting will be co-hosted by UNEP and KEITI on Oct to set up an cooperation network that will allow transfers of know-how and experience on ecolabeling and sustainable public procurement at the Asean+3 level. This meeting is to be organized as part of the project Strengthening the capacities and improving the knowledge on green public procurement and ecolabelling in the ASEAN+3 region, implemented by UNEP in close collaboration with KEITI, Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, and International Green Purchasing Network. Green Public Procurement & Ecolabeling Training, based on Korea s experience in the implementation of green public procurement and ecolabeling, will be launched and tested on 1 Nov 2013, as part of the above mentioned project. 3
