ABI will promote ventures directly through its service strategy. The identified new strategic services of ABI are Seed Ventures Biofuel ventures Innovative ventures Farm ventures and Agri-biotech ventures Outreach strategy The Outreach strategy of ABI will be to partner with Institutes /organizations globally on Business Incubation promote these ventures and enhance technology commercialization. This approach will help in distributed development, attain overall institute commitment to learn and share for enhancement and faster scale up.
37 Seed Ventures ABI-ICRISAT s Approach Identification and motivation of rural entrepreneurs & CBOs to take up seed ventures Training of selected rural entrepreneurs & CBOs in seed production techniques and seed business management Access to breeder seeds and foundation seed materials from ICRISAT and NARS partners Access to processing and storage facility Facilitate Quality control of seeds and training of local seed traders in seed quality standards Establish linkages between seed producers, bankers, storage agencies and local traders to ensure timely availability of good quality seed at the reasonable price to the farmers Provide branding and marketing assistance for enhancing the sales of the seeds Entry Procedures Start-up entrepreneurs in rural areas with relevant experience, skills, competence, and capacity to invest & take risk and are within the serviceable areas
38 Biofuel Ventures ABI-ICRISAT s Approach In order to promote the sweet sorghum based ethanol industry ABI-ICRISAT shall provide the industry with the following services: Parent seed materials access of sweet sorghum Capacity building on agricultural extension and technical advice Both the services shall be offered on becoming the member of ICRISAT- Private Sector Sweet Sorghum Ethanol Research Consortium. The rest of the services based on the need will be provided in following areas: Command Area Development support through contract and corporate farming Feasibility study's & report Process Technology & Turnkey project facilitation Entry Procedures Start up or established companies foraying into biofuel business (Ethanol)
