2 50 YEAR HISTORY Shur Grow Seeds has been one of the real success stories in the early years of Heritage Cooperative. Shur Grow is currently celebrating over 50 years of serving the farmers of Ohio. Shur Grow was first introduced to Ohio farmers in the early 960s by The Ohio Grain Company; an agricultural company founded in 9, whose purpose was serving the farmers of central Ohio. The first seeds offered under the Shur Grow brand were primarily common varieties of seeds developed through the public sector of the seed industry. By the early 980s, most of the top performing hybrids and varieties were beginning to come from private breeding companies in the seed industry. In 98, Shur Grow introduced its first elite genetics that were available exclusively under the Shur Grow brand. By identifying the lines that excelled in the soils of Ohio, the Shur Grow brand experienced rapid growth soon after introduction. Shur Grow was purchased from The Ohio Grain Company in 99 by Champaign Landmark, Inc. This purchase opened doors to new technologies and plant breeding that strengthened the Shur Grow brand line of corn, wheat, and soybean seed. As specific traits entered the seed industry in the late 990s, Shur Grow was positioned to again lead the way for Ohio farmers. As the seed business grew and developed, it was not simply a matter of identifying the best genetics for Ohio soils you now needed genetics that would offer the specific traits that insured top performance on Ohio farms. While traits continue to play an important role in the marketplace, it is still crucial to start with the base genetics that work best for Shur Grow customers. You can count on Shur Grow and Heritage Cooperative to lead in offering top genetics and traits, with your profitability always in mind.

3 RESEARCH Producing crops in Ohio is different from producing those same crops in many of the states to our west. Ohio has unique soils, weather patterns, and diseases that make it important to use hybrids and varieties with the proven ability to perform under these various conditions. The primary focus of the Shur Grow Research Program is to identify those hybrids and varieties, and bring them to the farmers of Ohio as part of the Shur Grow lineup. Selecting these seeds starts with a process of working with the top plant breeders in the industry today. This year, our replicated research program consists of thousands of individual plots tested on Ohio soils. These tests look only at the hybrids and varieties that have the characteristics required to perform on our soils. In addition to our replicated research program, the most promising lines, as well as many new lines are placed in controlled, strip plots at many more locations throughout the state. Most of these strip plots are focused in the primary area served by Heritage Cooperative. All agronomic traits affecting performance and yield are watched closely during the growing season. Characteristics such as emergence, standability, disease tolerance, and many more all combine to make up the complete package of a new hybrid or variety. Only after successfully passing all of these tests, does a new hybrid or variety earn the right to be placed in the Shur Grow lineup. This process enables us to make sure you are planting only the seeds that deliver the performance needed to contribute directly to your bottom line. As genetics and traits continue to evolve at a rapid pace, there is no better way to get dependable performance than with Shur Grow Seeds, only from Heritage Cooperative.

What does this mean? For farmers, it means simplicity, convenience and compliance all rolled into one. To help reduce the risk of insects developing resistance to B.t. technology, farmers are required to plant a separate structured refuge in their fields. With SmartStax RIB Complete corn, farmers are able to fill the planter with one bag and plant one field, saving them valuable time. Each bag contains a blend of 95% SmartStax corn seed and 5 percent refuge (nonbt) seed. Product benefits include: A singlebag refuge solution Simplicity in planting one bag versus two Convenience for the farmer in planning and planting SmartStax RIB Complete Corn Blend is a collaboration between Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences LLC. By opening and using a bag of seed, you are reaffirming your obligation to comply with those stewardship requirements. Planting a refuge is an EPA requirement for Agrisure Viptera, and Agrisure 000GT corn Hybrids. Refuge can be a block or infield strip, four consecutive rows minimum ( rows preferred, in each strip). Black Perimeter Strips Adjacent Plant a minimum 0% nonb.t. common (corn rootworm and corn Agrisure 000GT, Agrisure Viptera borer) refuge within or adjacent to each Agrisure 000GT, Agrisure Viptera corn field. Can be separated by a road, path, ditch, etc., but not by another field. If perimeter or strips are used for the refuge, the strips must be at least four contiguous rows wide. Refuge (i.e. Roundup Ready Corn Or conventional corn) Designates ditch, road, path, etc. REFUGE CALCULATOR (Refuge for both Corn Rootworm and Corn Borer, 0% of field size) EAMPLES YOUR FIELD Field Size (acres) = Maximum Agrisure 000 GT, Agrisure Viptera acres: Field size x.80 = Corn Rootworm and Corn Borer Refuge acres Needed for 0% minimum refuge: Field size x.0 = (The Agrisure Viptera Trait + Agrisure 000GT) The Agrisure Viptera trait stack offers comprehensive control of above and below ground insects to protect grain quality with glyphosate or glufosinate herbicide flexibility. Featuring the Agrisure Viptera trait for comprehensive control of more damaging earfeeding insects, Agrisure Viptera helps boost yield potential and reduce mold and mycotoxin production, protecting grain quality for increased profit potential at the elevator and improved livestock performance potential. Pests Controlled: European corn borer, Southwestern corn borer, Southern cornstalk borer, lesser cornstalk borer, corn earworm, fall armyworm, true armyworm, dingy cutworm, beet armyworm, black cutworm, Western bean cutworm, sugarcane borer, Western corn rootworm, Northern corn rootworm, Southwestern cornstalk borer, lesser cornstalk borer, and common stalk borer. Agrisure Viptera 0 EZ Refuge The Agrisure Viptera 0 EZ Refuge trait stack offers corn growers dual modes of action against earfeeding insects, including corn borer, with an integrated refuge to protect grain quality. It is ideal in areas where corn rootworm management is not a primary concern. Featuring the Agrisure Viptera trait for more control of more damaging aboveground insects, Agrisure Viptera 0 EZ Refuge helps boost yield potential and reduce mold and mycotoxin production, protecting grain quality for increased profit potential at the elevator and improved livestock performance potential.
