6 DEDICATED SOLUTION FOR AFRICA COMMUNITY IRRIGATION - HIGH-SCALE PROJECTS FOR SMALLHOLDERS Community irrigation creates an opportunity for governments and international bodies to create national-scale impact by engaging thousands of smallholders under one umbrella. Smart irrigation technology for large communities of farmers, combined with economies of scale and the use of centralized, highly monitored water infrastructure, are at the heart of a community irrigation plan. The integrated solution features a drip irrigation system to ensure equitable distribution of water to farmers regardless of weather conditions or proximity to water source. This leads to significant benefits including higher yields (of 5x or more), greater water usage efficiency, and better livelihoods for large-scale farming communities. COMMERCIAL TRAINING CENTERS (CTC) Knowledge sharing is a key foundation of Netafim s success in Africa. The Commercial Training Center (CTC) is a local agricultural center where farmers and organizations acquire knowledge and training in water and irrigation technologies, nutrient applications, machinery, post-harvest practices, and social programs such as women s empowerment. The unique nature of the CTC is based on a fully integrated ecosystem with a number of characteristics. Unique CTC characteristics: Farmers learn about and train with water and irrigation solutions at one place. Netafim offers a tailor-made training program to local communities based on a train-the-trainers mechanism, enabling sustainable and long-lasting farming operations. The farm is a self-sufficient facility that generates revenues through the commercial trading of fresh produce grown there. The training mechanism enables participants to independently manage their own farms, while always being able to return to the CTC to be updated with ongoing farm management best practices and recent developments. FAMILY DRIP SYSTEM (FDS) - ALL-IN-ONE IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR SMALLHOLDERS Designed for small-scale farmers, Netafim s FDS is a comprehensive solution equipped with a drip irrigation system, portable water tank, filter, valves, distribution pipes, connectors, and accessories, as well as a detailed, user-friendly installation manual and basic irrigation information. Solar panel and solar energy-based water pumps are also available according to local conditions. The extremely affordable Family Drip Systems are suitable for growing areas of between 250m 2 and 1ha. Netafim offers a training program at the installation and initial growing stages for medium-to-large-scale communities.
