6 Preface The Bodensee Symposia on Microcirculation have been initiated in 1982 as an interdisciplinary forum to review and to discuss very recent findings from specific fields of clinical and experimental research in microcirculation. The 2nd Bodensee Symposium was held in Konstanz/Bodensee, July 1-3, 1983 on "Vasomotion and Quantitative Capillaroscopy". This third volume of "Progress in Applied Microcirculation" contains the introductory papers as well as the summaries of the discussions. The 2nd Bodensee Symposium on Microcirculation was realized with the generous help of Dr. E. O. Wiethoff, M. D. and Mr. K.-D.
