Cells Menu Choice This project is designed to show your knowledge and understanding of Cells. Through this project you will demonstrate your knowledge of the Cell Theory (what all cells have in common), the difference between plant and animal cells (including their organelles), and how cells grow and multiply. Directions: 1.Choose ONE of the two projects: 3-D cell or Comic Strip 2.Follow the directions and fill in the accompanying worksheets Rubric (Grading) Each part will be graded according to the learning goals for each Unit Cell Comic Strip 1. Choose either the plant cell or animal cell to do your comic strip on 2. Follow the directions for each square of your comic strip 3. Your comic strip will include the Cell Theory, Cell Differences, cell processes Cell Reproduction 4. Use the example as a guide and the sentence frames to help you in creating your comic strip 5. Needs to be NEAT, in COLOR and no pencil 3-D Cell Directions: For this project you will create a 3-D model of the cell, a cell differences worksheet, a cell theory worksheet, and a cell cycle worksheet DIRECTIONS FOR MODEL 1. You need to create a cell that is 3-D 2. Choose either a plant cell or animal cell 3. You need to label and describe the functions (definitions) the following organelles (where appropriate). Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Cell Wall, Vacuole, Mitochondria, Lysosomes, and Chloroplast Materials used to represent organelles may include anything. I suggest that you use what you have at home. Do not make this into an expensive project!
Ex: wood, buttons, yarn, thread, food, (noodles, vegetables etc) candy, plastic, paper, Styrofoam, etc 3-D Cell Directions: For this project you will create a 3-D model of the cell, a cell differences worksheet, a cell theory worksheet, and a cell cycle worksheet DIRECTIONS FOR MODEL 1. Ex: wood, buttons, yarn, thread, food, (noodles, vegetables etc) candy, plastic, paper, Styrofoam, etc. Examples:
3-D Cell Differences Unit 2 1. The cell I created was a cell 2. Parts and Function of Organelles that are ONLY found in the cell type you created. 3. Parts and Function of Organelles that are ONLY found in the OTHER cell type. 4. Organelles that are found in BOTH cells include: 5. According to the cell theory, ALL cells a. b. c. 6. Why do plant cells and animal cells need each other?
3-D Cell Processes Unit 3 1. Does your cell do photosynthesis? 2. What is the purpose of photosynthesis? 3. Where in the cell does photosynthesis take place? 4. What does photosynthesis need? 5. What does photosynthesis produce? 6. Does your cell do cellular reproduction? 7. What is the purpose of cellular reproduction? 8. Where in the cell does cellular reproduction take place? 9. What does cellular reproduction need? 10. What does cellular reproduction produce? 11. How can the destruction of the rain forest effect us? what does the rain forest provide for us?
3-D Cell Reproduction Unit 4 1. My cell spends most of its life in the stage of the cell cycle. 2. During this stage my cell is mainly until the end of the stage when it 3. The second stage of the cell cycle that my cell will go through is 4. During this stage my cell 5. There are four parts to this stage are, in order,,,, 6. The end result of this stage is 7. The last stage of the cell cycle that my cell will go through is 8. During this stage my cell will 9. The end results of this stage is 10. What happens to my cell when the cell cycle goes wrong?
Cell Comic Strip 1. Choose either the plant cell or animal cell to do your comic strip on 2. Follow the directions for each square of your comic strip 3. Your comic strip will include the Cell Theory, Cell Differences, and the Cell Cycle 4. Use the example as a guide and the sentence frames to help you in creating your comic strip 5. Needs to be NEAT, in COLOR and no pencil Directions with example 1. The first square explains the cell theory. It should include the 3 parts of the cell theory Hey everyone, Iʼm an animal cell. Just like all cells I 1. _(first part of cell theory) 2. (second part of cell theory) 3. (third part of cell theory) 2. The second and third squares explains the structures that are special to your cell (plant or animal) and what they do (their functions) Since Iʼm a cell I have some structures that cells donʼt. One of those structures is these organelles help. Another structure that is found in plant cells but looks different in my cells is which.
3. The fourth and fifth squares explains the cell process that occur in plant and animal cells Because I am a cell I am/am not able to do photosynthesis whose purpose is to. This happens by taking in and producing. Like all cells I get my energy through a process of which takes in and produces. 4. The sixth square identifies and explains the first stage of the cell cycle During my life I will spend most of my time in the stage of the cell cycle. During this time my cell will 5. The seventh square identifies and explains the second stage of the cell cycle Once that stage is over I will enter the second stage. During this time my cell will.
6. The eighth cell identifies and explains the last stage of the cell cycle At the end of my life my cell will enter the last stage. While in this stage I will Example of all the squares put together Hey everyone, Iʼm an animal cell. Just like all cells I 1. _(first part of cell theory) 2. (second part of cell theory) 3. (third part of cell theory) Since Iʼm an animal cell I have some structures that plant cells donʼt. One of those structures is these organelles help.
