7 Standards Evolution EMS Estimate Management System Standard Originally conceived in the early 1990 s to eliminate the manual duplicate keying of estimate data into the Body Shop Management Systems. dbase files (small system platform PC)

9 Standards Evolution EMS Transformation From 1994 to 2002, the EMS was enhanced to include: Assignments Reassignments Estimates Supplements Bi-Directional
10 Standards Evolution EMS Vintage CIECA developed the Standard Format Information Providers developed the Implementation Guide, which is the HOW TO book. CIECA Code Lists were published once a year.
11 Standards Evolution EMS Version 3.0 was conceived as a total replacement of the EMS dbase files and the EDI transactions (e.g. 124, 272, etc.) One Standard for small and large systems/businesses New EMS will be developed using XML technology.
12 Standards Evolution In 2003 CIECA established two primary Committees to address EMS & XML. Architecture Committee VDI (Vehicle Damage & Imaging) Committee CIECA also implemented a policy whereby the Standards, the Code Lists, and the Implementation Guides would be packaged in lock-step and developed by CIECA.

26 Certification The purpose of the CIECA Certification Committee is to establish an ongoing Certification process to validate that the implementation of the software application s interchange documents is in compliance with CIECA standards and implementation guidelines. Certification applies to XML and beyond.
