5 Use Store Specific Consumer Prices There are various reasons for store managers to need store-specific consumer prices for a set of products (typically lower than the products' distribution chain prices). One reason is local competition. However, there is currently no user-friendly, guided procedure to capture competitors' prices and calculate store-specific prices on the basis of those. This leaves retailers with three less-than-perfect options regarding store-specific consumer prices: No store-specific consumer prices are used: The store loses market share as it cannot keep up with competition. Store-specific consumer prices are directly maintained in the ERP system: The people involved work together in a non-guided way, often leading to delays and errors (manual steps, communication by /telephone). Store-specific consumer prices are maintained in the POS system: There is no transparency about why store managers adjust prices and no control possible by the category manager responsible at the headquarters. Features Allows even untrained users to request store-specific consumer prices and to research competitors' prices due to the easy-to-use user interface. Provides transparency with regard to the reasons why store-specific consumer prices are needed. Enables category managers to remain in control of the margins of assortments for which they are responsible. Ensures that consumer prices in the ERP system remain consistent with those in the POS system. Streamlines the process of creating store-specific consumer prices by providing effective user guidance. 6 Purpose Maintain Store Specific Consumer Prices You can use this process to enable store personnel to enter consumer prices gathered from store s competitors. Based on these prices, the system proposes store specific consumer prices, which the store manager can adjust. The store manager then requests approval from the category manager (headquarters). Finally, the category manager releases (or adjusts/rejects) store specific consumer prices. Follow-on process steps (for example, POS outbound) can then use these prices. The store employee gathers price information at the competitors (for example, by window shopping) and enters them. The store manager reviews the competitor prices and adjusts them, if necessary. Store specific consumer prices are suggested based on the competitor prices. The store manager can adjust prices or margins, and then request an approval. Category Manager Approve/ Reject Prices The category manager reviews the requested store specific consumer prices, supported by the same information. Prices can be rejected, adjusted, or approved. 1. The Store manager selects products that are relevant for competitor price research (search parameters include description, GRIN, supplier, merchandise category). 2. Competitors suitable for research are selected (parameters include name, city, ZIP code, search term). In addition, manager selects an employee to carry out the research, as well as a due date. 8 3. The store employee prints out the list, indicating which products need to be researched at which competitor. He or she gathers the prices at the competitors (for example, by window shopping) and enters them. 4. The store manager reviews the collected competitor prices and adjusts them, if necessary. 5. The system suggests store specific consumer prices based on the competitor prices. Additional parameters (cost, margin, supplier, distribution chain price, and so on) are displayed. The store manager can adjust prices or margins, and request an approval. 6. The category manager reviews the requested store specific consumer prices, supported by the same information. Prices can be rejected, adjusted, or approved. Active prices will be created in ERP, if applicable. Store Specific Consumer Prices 710 8

Store Manager selects products and competitors (User: cmp_storman, PW: abc123) The Store Manager selects articles where he wants calculate the prices. He selects the competitors he is interested in and sends this request to a store employee. The store manager selects the articles by using a search term. He chooses one article for calculating the prices. He selects the competitors by using a search term. At least he selects the store employee who will research the prices. Action: 1. Click on the tab Store Specific Consumer Pricing. 2. Click on Next. 3. Click on Add User and search for cmp_storemp. Mark on the left hand side the Administrator and click Add. Repeat this for Overseer and Owner. 4. Search for cmp_catman. Mark on the left hand side the Category Manager and click on Add. 5. Click on Next. 6. Click on Initiate. 7. Enter Plant into field <Plant>. (In this test: Enter CFT1 ) 8. Click the field "Merchandise Category", enter search term into field "Merchandise Category" and click <Search>. 12 10. Click <Add to Form>. 11. Click <Select Competitors>. 12. Enter search terms into at least one of the text fields and click <Search>. (In this test: Enter SUNNYVALE into field City) 13. Select at least two competitors in the table by clicking on the row of the competitor. 14. Click <Add to Form>. 15. Click <Select Employee> at bottom of the page. 16. Click Symbol at the right border of the text field "Store Employee". 17. Enter employee's name into the text box ( cmp_storemp ) and click <Search>. (This is the name of the second role) 18. Click <Select>. 19. Click symbol at the right border of the text field "Due Date". 20. Choose a date by clicking it. (In this test: 12/31/2006) 21. Click <Create Form> at the bottom of the page. 22. Click <Send Form> to send request to the store employee. 2. Store Employee does the price research (User: cmp_storemp, PW: abc123) The Store employee searches for the competitor prices and maintains them into the form The store employee receives a mail notification, or goes to his task list. He researches the prices to the requested items. He enters the prices into the form and send it back to the store manager. Action: 1. 13 2. In the Tasks List click on the latest Work item Competitor Price Research. 3. Enter the prices in the price area. 4. Click <Send>. 3. Back to Store Manager again, he calculates the prices (User: cmp_storman, PW: abc123) The Store Manager searches for the competitor prices and maintains them into the form The store manager receives a mail notification, or goes to his task list. By adjusting the competitor prices he calculates the suggested prices. Finally he sends his calculated prices to the category manager. Action: 1. In the Guided Procedures Runtime Work Center click on Tasks Where Action is Required to Continue Process Flow. 2. In the Tasks List click on the latest Work item Adjust competitor prices. 3. Click Button <Calculate Prices>. 4. Change suggested prices by selecting the table fields Sugg. Price and entering new prices into the selected fields. 5. Click <Request Approval>. 4. The Category Manager approves or rejects the prices (User: cmp_catman, PW: abc123) The Category Manager reviews the calculated prices and approves or rejects them. The category manager receives a mail notification, or goes to his task list. After reviewing it he approves or rejects the task. If he approves the prices he also activates them. Action: 1.
