2 About Lotaris Company founded in 2007 by Robert Tibbs (CEO) and David Keast (CSO), in South Africa. In 2008, the company moved to Switzerland and is now based in Yverdon-les-bains. Strong international focus, especially on Asia through our subsidiary, Lotaris K.K., commercial joint venture with ACCESS in Japan, and representation in China, but also Brazil, Mexico, and Silicon Valley. R&D collaboration with the HEIG-VD initiated in early 2008, initially through mandates, supported by the Canton de Vaud and the CTI. Since 2008, more than 20 jobs created in the Canton de Vaud. Worldwide, more than 30 staff and contractors.

5 Lotaris Licensed Mobile Environment (LME) The platform enables the distribution of applications in ways that makes sense to users in a particular channel or context: Feature Licensing & License Upgrades (such as in Freemium Models) Business Models (including Subscription, Fixed Period, Usage-based) Flexible Subscription Models for Subscriber Life Cycle Management Payment Methods (including Credit Card, PSMS, Carrier Billing etc.) ISVs and Distributors develop ongoing relationships with users through subscription life-cycle management and usage analytics

6 High Level Design Objectives for LME Focus on the user in the mobile space it must be intuitive. It has to be easy for the thumb! The experience must keep the user within the app environment, and allow them to build behavioral familiarity and comfort with the environment. For the software vendor, it has to offer easy ways to get users to pay for parts or all of their applications, in an intuitive way, when they want or need to buy. For the market place owner it must be flexible, and allow them to deploy different business models and most importantly, to dynamically change their minds. It has to be integrated without pain to our partners, work flawlessly and create no undue support calls to anyone.

7 FluidMobile (CTI-no FPES-ES) Context-aware middleware How can the business logic and the user interaction adapt itself depending on the current context? And how do we define context? Application in the Lotaris context: how do we support multiple distribution channels, whilst reducing the number of application versions? Cloud-computing Deployment challenges for middleware technologies well-established in the traditional data center environment Database scalability Cloud-computing as an infrastructure for load and scalability testing

9 LME: Dynamic User Interaction Most of the user interaction is driven from the server-side, making it dynamic and easily modifiable. An XML language enables server-side components to initiate conversations and to trigger actions on the client side. This is a general mechanism that is used for in-app payments, in-app subscription management and in-app messaging.
