AT&T (Telco), San Antonio, Texas, US Establishes a single customer view with IBM Information Server Challenge Establish a consistent view of customers across all business functions to enable differentiated servicing and business controls: - Inconsistent view of customers across the business - Lack of unique, customer-level identifiers across hundreds of support systems - Difficulty providing differentiated servicing across Sales, Customer Care, and Financing - Inadequate controls for SOX compliance Solution AT&T is using IBM Information Server DataStage and IBM Information Server QualityStage to establish a single customer view across its enterprise. The solution integrated 70 major operational systems. It serves 120,000 queries daily at 99.9% availability. It is available 24x7 with complete recovery within an hour. SOA exposes 250 services using 600 standard data objects and attributes. Business Benefits Improved servicing of its largest and most profitable customers by understanding their entire account. Accurate, aggregate view of inventory enables greater flexibility and improve revenue generation at time of contract. Reduced IT costs by promoting reuse and standards-based development efforts.
Bayer CropScience (Chemicals), Monheim, Germany Global chemical company improves data quality with IBM Challenge Expand master data management system Integrate all business units with master data repository Needed to build a complete and consistent master data solution Solution Using IBM Information Server to build a complete data integration infrastructure to manage master data Using IBM Information Server DataStage Pack for SAP R/3 to load data to SAP R/3 and IBM Information Server QualityStage and Address Verification to standardize addresses Solution will automate entire process chain, especially high-volume data cleansing (SAP). Business Benefits Compliance: Reduced manual effort needed to monitor and manage data quality for compliance with corporate standards Reusability: Gained ability to reuse business rules across different source systems Consistency: Established common method for data movements
Grundfos (Manufactoring), Denmark Industrial manufacturer integrates master data with IBM Challenge Poor data governance and data quality was negatively impacting their business: (1) unable to determine product profitability and (2) lower customer satisfaction due to number of data errors Seamlessly merge customer information to capitalize on up and cross-selling Minimize costs of maintaining separate data sources Improve flexibility and responsiveness to changing market conditions as demand increases Solution Grundfos selected IBM Information Server to deliver customer, material and supplier master data to processes and applications across its enterprise. They will start with a focus on CRM where SAP R/3 will be used as connection point between systems Expected Benefits Accurate and trustworthy data to have a single version of information to drive business transactions Transform complex data from SAP and other data sources into actionable information that can be used throughout the organization. Dramatically reduce time and effort spent on continuous manual changes Cost savings by reducing duplicate products and production downtime
Harley-Davidson (Retail), US Retailer optimizes inventory turn around with IBM Challenge Needed to provide more accurate inventory availability information to their dealers in order to better optimize inventory. Required the integration of external market and parts information with internal order forecasts and shipments in their SCM system. Solution Created a series of data integration web services using IBM Information Server DataStage. Reusing services, allowing them to be invoked directly from TIBCO and WebLogic applications. Leveraging the same logic created for batch processing. Business Benefits Rolled out to select dealers across the US. Provides better access to up-to-the-minute information to dealers, reducing unnecessary reorders. Leverages the capabilities of data integration for closed-loop operational decision making. Catalyst for the creation of an Integration Center of Excellence (CoE).
Kawasaki (Retail), US Increases customer satisfaction by reducing time to fulfill orders Challenge Declining sales due to a lack of competitive turnaround on parts and accessories orders. Integrate mainframe assets (i.e. distributed packing and shipment processing systems) with its distributed analysis tool and fulfillment systems. Consolidate mission critical information from the host e- commerce site with distributed data to provide a daily update of sales. Provide a view of sales from over 8000 dealers. Solution IBM Information Server Classic Federation Server for z/os provides the ability to join mainframe data sources with mission critical distributed systems (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server). Orders from dealers, website, and phones are now processed the day they are received. Business Benefits Saved full year of development time to provide up-to-the-minute information into their supply chain warehouse; warehouse staff has on demand access to current orders for expediting fulfillment. Improved competitive position in the marketplace as orders arrive at least one day earlier than before. Significantly enhanced operations without any specialized in-house mainframe skills. Increased operational reliability while reducing required resources for ETL.
MGM Mirage (Media & Entertainment), Las Vegas, Nevada, US World class hotel and gaming company drives customer loyalty Challenge MGM Mirage needed a single view of customer data from its multiple casinos, hotels and other sources, including its new loyalty program (Players Club). They wanted to improve customer service, enable targeted marketing programs, and provide a critical basis for tactical and strategic decisions. Continued use of their custom-built, first generation EDW constrained their ability to change and expand the system as needed, and resulted in high costs. Solution MGM Mirage used IBM Information Server in an SOA to implement a second generation warehouse project with internal technical resources Profiles source data, creates data quality processes, and integrates data into CRM warehouse, across all customers, properties and revenue lines. Web service process for real time updates into warehouse for security, marketing and CRM activity. Business Benefits Achieved self-sufficiency in managing their EDW, eliminating reliance on 3 rd party development and reducing maintenance costs. Improved customer service and gained ability to profile and promote its most profitable and active gambling customers. Built a foundation that enables on-demand integration environment, with an up-to-date and authoritative customer database.
JPMorgan Chase (Financial Services), US Establishes single source of customer information Challenge JPMC s Global Investment Banking and Private Banking divisions needed a single source of customer information for profitability reporting and analysis. Wanted to centralize information to improve monthly delivery windows, reduce downstream re-interpretation of data, and leverage expensive I/T resources. Needed a highly automated integration process, straightforward change management, and ability to handle a diversity of data sources. Solution Used IBM Information Server DataStage to implement a customer profitability data warehouse (CPDW) that consolidated information on private banking and corporate clients. Receives 300+ feeds from product systems worldwide, then transforms and loads into CPDW. 1TB+ of data is now updated every 48 hours with daily refreshes planned. Business Benefits Over 20,000 internal customers, including account executives, financial analysts and business managers, rely on CPDW as their single authoritative source on customer profitability information. Improves quality of service and ensures consistency of business decisions concerning targeted banking clients. No one is allowed to comment or spin profitability without referring to this utility.
