The following graph illustrates the modules, described in more detail later. DeltaXE is powerful in communication due to integrated technical tools including a Service Bus and a BPM (Business Process Management) process engine. All incoming and outgoing formats can be converted into any other format in the integrated Oracle Service Bus. DeltaXE provides standard interfaces to most of the ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) systems, and supports all types of data (XML, EDIFACT, CSV, XLS, etc.) and communication channels (APIs, WebServices, Queuing, , FTP, sftp, File/folder, AS2, etc.). The interfaces are configurable. When entering a deal or any changes in the ETRM, the details are automatically pushed to DeltaXE without user interaction. Alternatively, DeltaXE is able to read these data from a query or via API. When importing data in DeltaXE, automatic validations take place. The validations are based on configurable business rules. Data is simultaneously interpreted and enriched. For example, the feeder ETRM system often does not know balances or balance groups, nor capacity types, capacity IDs, gas days, etc. In this case, the data conversion and a functional conversion (mapping) take place in the DeltaXE Service Bus. In the DeltaXE Communication overview all incoming and outgoing messages are logged. We distinguish ourselves from our competitors in that we are able to operate in most European power markets and many gas markets outof- the box. Therefore we are focusing in the following chapters to the features of the market communication part to describe how DeltaXE is creating and sending the schedules in line with the different market processes and communication rules. The following table shows the electricity markets with their respective border capacities as well as the gas markets with their entry and exit points, all supported by DeltaXE. 2

Due to high performance, a large amount of data is not an obstacle. The main argument for exchanging single deals is traceability. Particularly in Intraday, when you need to act fast, you can find the defective position in the DeltaXE Scheduling Cockpit, where all responses are validated automatically and any mismatch is reported immediately. The defective position is identified, and you can drill down to the defective deal in the appropriate position overview for corrections. 3

4 white paper This illustration shows the DeltaXE fast contract entry Based on the contracts you can configure position overviews by using Filter- and Calculation modules. These are used for example in daily business to manage the control area balance. Navigation down in hierarchy leads finally to contract positions. You can create and send nominations manually in the nomination module. 4

5 You can also configure jobs to trigger nominations according to configured time cycles. All exported and imported messages are logged in the DeltaXE Communication Overview. The creation and sending of schedules, the import of responses, validations and display of the schedule status, can be fully automated. Also other market communications like counterparty specific messages or the transparency messages (to the EEX platform) can be completely automated. This enables the trader to fully concentrate on his market activities and only intervene if deviations are shown by the system (incoming ANO, or a control area is red). In gas business DeltaXE supports beside others the NOMINT, CONTRL, NOMRES, APERAK, REQEST, REQRES, PRODOC, PROCON, ALOCAT, IMBNOT messages. In power business DeltaXE supports beside others the TPS, ACK, ANO, ICNF, CNF, PPS, APS, RPS messages. Further messages can be added by configuration. The scheduling map displays the nomination status of the highest level for each control area. 5

6 Another feature is the Scheduling Cockpit, a tabular dashboard where all sent schedules and information about the validated response messages are visible. Navigating down in the message hierarchy shows the position with the TSO response and possible value differences in a quarterly hour resolution. It is possible to define additional alarm rules. For example, to send an after five minutes if the TSO does not confirm with a response. All response messages from TSO, auction offices, exchanges, power plant operators and other partners are automatically imported, validated and assigned to the appropriate message. The status of message process is displayed in color coding in the DeltaXE Scheduling Cockpit The administration of the required master data for the nominations, like the balance groups and their corresponding codes, is very easy. You can also define and configure completely new markets in DeltaXE. 6
