4 ADOscore: Domain Knowledge The BOC Strategy and Performance Framework Based on our understanding of the BSC method as the underlying method of ADOscore, there is an inherent connection between Strategy and Performance. ADOscore supports the methods and procedure models of these approaches and therefore fosters the implementation of Balanced Scorecards, Corporate Performance and additional scenarios of Corporate. The main focus of both approaches lies in the combination of goals, key performance indicators and initiatives. This trio are the core elements of ADOscore and are used in Strategy and Performance. Flexible controlling systems can be built in line with the Balanced Scorecard method according to the strategic corporate goals, or in the context of Performance, with measurement systems that can be freely defined. To integrate continuous improvement management each initiative is assigned to a defined goal. This connection is at the core of the active and reactive nature of the method based on data and figures input. 5 ADOscore: Usage Application Scenarios Strategy Strategy Assessment Knowing ones weaknesses, capitalising on ones strengths, taking chances and minimising the associated risks is the basis for Strategic Assessment. SWOT analysis is performed in a clear and precise way that can be easily visualised. It builds the foundation that derives a consistent business model to implement the company s strategic thrust. The formulation of a vision and mission statement is the next phase and results in the implementation of strategy maps. Strategy Maps Strategy maps translate the strategy to the day-to-day business. They communicate the clear and coherent vision of central corporate goals and the logical connections necessary to achieve them. Breaking the goals down to specific business units or themed topics provides a structured basis for communication and controlling. As a result the corporate strategy becomes tangible for everybody involved in the organisation. Balanced Scorecard The Balanced Scorecard is recognised as the de-facto standard to put strategy into action. The combination of structured domain oriented procedures, the use of reference models and the consequent IT-based transformation support, guarantee a successful implementation. With the help of management portals or dashboards, all of the key relevant information for decision making is made available in a central intuitive style. The scorecards therefore are built up from the broad definition and controlling functions of goals, KPIs and initiative systems using ADOscore. Process Performance The focus of Process Performance is to define process goals, deriving them from Business Process, and to ultimately provide operational data to evaluate their status. Using the ability to react to deviations within a defined initiative and the controlling of results, the performance of a process is not only measured but underlies a continuous controlling and optimisation strategy. That way you elevate the topic of Process Performance to a higher level: Continuous Process Improvement. IT Performance A defined IT strategy can be used as the basis for developing an ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) BSC for instance or for the definition and implementation of comprehensive IT Performance for IT processes and SLAs (Service Level Agreements). This includes the embodiment of central controlling dashboards with continuous data updates leading to automated reporting. 7 ADOscore: Technical Information Short Facts ADOscore is the Strategy and Performance tool of the BOC Office and can be used in a Standalone or Client/Server environment. The data is stored in relational databases, with external data read in via multiple possible interfaces (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SQL, CSV, XML interfaces). The ADOscore Interaction Board provides online access to Strategy and Performance data and user specific menus and working environments. All the reporting functionality as well as the controlling dashboards of the management portals is web based and can be accessed remotely. ADOscore is based on a powerful meta-modelling concept and can be flexibly extended and customised in terms of modelling method, analysis, dashboard and report generation.
