Catherine Brittingham Pablo Schneider Zhenyuan Han Executive Corner Preparing to Launch the ISM-Dallas Report on Business ISM-Dallas is thrilled to announce that we will begin publishing a monthly Report on Business covering both Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing trends in the Dallas area in partnership with the Dallas Business Journal (DBJ). In the next two weeks, we'll be sending out a request for survey participants by with the plan of publishing our first ROB in August, once we've collected a couple months of data. All survey information will be kept anonymous and we'll request that survey participants please not disclose your status as a contributor. As you know, the Institute for Supply Management's monthly Report on Business, with its collection of leading and lagging indicators, is much anticipated by financial analysts, and leaders in government and business globally and considered by many to be the most reliable near-term economic barometer available. You may not know, however, that the process of surveying supply managers and others to collect business and economic data has been going on since the early 1920's and actually started at the local and regional level with organizations such as the Purchasing Management Association of Boston (PMABoston). The ISM national organization has refined the Report over time and in its current state, includes two Indexes and Reports: the PMI, which covers Manufacturing and Production and the NMI, which covers Non-Manufacturing sectors. Given the growth in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing activity Dallas has experienced over recent years, we believe there is a tremendous appetite for insights from the supply management community, and that ISM-Dallas is uniquely poised to collect and publish this data. The Dallas Business Journal also feels strongly that our Report will be of significant interest to its subscribers and is committed to not only covering our monthly Report but also providing a weekly spotlight section near the front of their paper and on-line that highlights trends our PMI and NMI Reports are revealing. The ISM-Dallas Report on Business surveys will be administered by Nereida Strucely, our ROB Chair, who has extensive experience with doing this for ISM-Austin in the past. We're currently refining the complete list of indexes to be covered but we will use the same indexes to compute the composite scores as the national organization, and also include additional indexes for forecasting the growth or contraction in commercial real estate, specifically related to manufacturing / production or warehouse space. Below are the indexes used to compute the composite scores for the PMI and NMI, along with the additional indexes we'll be tracking.
