2 Introduction GRANTA MI from Granta Design is the leading materials information management software system for engineering enterprises. GRANTA MI meets the disparate needs of the materials experts, product designers, engineering analysts, data publishers, and other professionals who work with information related to metals, composites, ceramics, plastics, and other materials. GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway enables data and tools from GRANTA MI to be accessed from within CAD, CAE, and PLM software. Users can access and browse a corporate materials database (and/or Granta-supplied reference data on materials properties), choose applicable materials, and assign those materials to parts within their design or simulation model. A variety of analytics, dashboard, reporting and data output tools are available, depending on the host system and the GRANTA MI modules licensed for your corporate installation. GRANTA is an application running within the design and simulation software from Siemens PLM. Scope of these Release Notes The previous version of GRANTA was Version 1.1. These Release Notes cover: Version 1.1.1, which adds enhancements to Version 1.1 based on user feedback Version 1.1.2, which extends coverage of this release to additional NX versions Version 1.1.3, which adds support for Teamcenter (with NX 7.5 only) Versions 1.2 and 1.2.1, which are compatible with GRANTA MI Version 6. This coverage is summarized in the table below. 3 How can installing these releases help you? All of these releases include enhancements to the original Version 1.1, based on user feedback, that improve usability and performance. Support for different NX releases is also extended choose the version that supports your choice of NX 7.5 to 8.5 and GRANTA MI Version 5 or 6. of was created to take advantage of new functionality in GRANTA MI Version 6: Multi-value attributes enabling the storage of numbers or text values where the material property varies with conditions or other parameters. 4 Installing Follow the installation instructions available with the download, using the alphanumeric key from your company s GRANTA MI license agreement. It is likely that your deployment will follow procedures relating to deployment and support of the host CAD or CAE system. You must ensure that you have obtained and installed the MI:Service Layer specified above before installing and using MI:Materials Gateway. MI:Materials Gateway requires Gateway-ready versions of GRANTA MI databases. This is a straightforward configuration, which is done already for Granta-supplied reference data modules. If you are accessing Granta reference data modules and wish to take advantage of the latest data and features, you should also ensure that you have installed the latest version of this data that is compatible with your GRANTA MI version.

5 More details on what s new Enhancements in all new versions: Part naming bodies are now named using the containing part name and body name when available. Performance Gateway now requires much less time to read the NX Bill of Materials, which can have a significant impact for BoMs containing 100 parts or more. Auto-expand browse tree navigation Any single folders in the browse tree are now opened automatically, enhancing ease and speed of navigating the data. Enhanced window management The Gateway window is now managed by NX, for example when minimizing or being in front, giving a more intuitive user experience..x (for use with GRANTA MI Version 6) Multi-value attributes Supports databases built with GRANTA MI Version 6, taking advantage of multi-value attributes, the ability to store numbers or text values where the material property varies with conditions or other parameters. Cross-database reporting Supports the ability to include in reports data from more than one database, as enabled by the Integrated Databases capability. Versions and (for use with NX 7.5) Teamcenter support Materials assignments and associated properties are transferred between NX and Teamcenter. Assignments made in NX persist into Teamcenter, preserving knowledge developed during CAD and CAE projects or restricted substance and eco audit analyses. Similarly, assignments made in Teamcenter can be used when generating reports in NX, fully integrating this work with your corporate PLM environment.
