18 h h h Connector with excellent joining power FERBOX Reinforcement connections for sturdy joints Obvious advantages FERBOX type B e d b Variety of types 1,25 m Type B, D, E, F available as lü standard in many different sizes.. FERBOX type D e d Special types b as required and also to drawing. lü 1,25 m Retainer box in galvanised sheet steel with roughened surface profile ensures a sound bonding action. FERBOX type E b e h 1,25 m d Cover lü in rigid, galvanised sheet steel. Quick and easy to remove. FERBOX type F e d Reinforcing rods in BST 500 S or BST 500 WR. Anchoring length and bending roller diameter dbr = 6 x ds in accordance with DIN 1045 (issue 7/88). b lü Fabrication information FERBOX reinforcement connections in types B, D, E, F are supplied in retainer boxes made from profiled, galvanised sheet steel for the reliable transmission of shear forces. The short side cheeks ensure that the retainer box is covered with concrete on all sides. The FERBOX reinforcement connection is to be nailed exactly in position on the shuttering so that it cannot move. After concreting the first stage, remove the sheet steel cover by means of a hammer. The reinforcement rods are bent back with a bending tube, the inside 1,25 m diameter of which is only slightly larger than the diameter of the rod. Place the tube over the rod up to the start of the curve and bring the reinforcement rod to the required position by bending one step at a time followed each time by a relocation of the tube in the direction of the bending-back point. Avoid bending backwards and forwards! Under no circumstances treat the retaining box remaining in the join with shuttering oil! Remove concrete contamination. Construction authority approval is not required for FERBOX reinforcement connections. 14

If the permissible shear stresses in the transverse direction of the profile are exceeded, the support depth must be increased to 5 cm (e.g. by nailing on a shuttering board). τ = Q [kn/m] d τ 0,6 x τ02 When using a type of concrete greater than B25, the absorption of transverse forces can be increased in the ratio of the permissible shear stresses. τ = Q [kn/m] b x h x kz τ 0,5 x τ011 The reinforcement in the area of bending-back points may only be utilised to 80%, i.e. the required reinforcement cross sectional area must be increased by 25%. Example: Type B effectively available reinforcement cross sectional area A S [cm 2 /m] = 2 x 2.51 accordingly corresponds to an equivalent reinforcement cross sectional area of 2 x (0.8 x 2.51). 16

24 For great connections GRIPRIP The strong joint for masonry work Impressive advantages Technical characteristics Why GRIRIP? No problems of corrosion in the brickwork join Light in weight No coverage problems due to delivery lengths of 100 m Easily cut to size Optimum load absorption due to woven form No transmission of noise No degradation of the thermal insulation properties of the brickwork Increased compressive strength due to improved absorption of transverse expansion forces in the joint area, particularly important with light-weight mortar Generally usable with lightweight mortar as corrosion problems do not occur GRIPRIP is a weave of aramid fibres with a mesh width of about 15 x 15 mm. Aramid: aromatic polyamide fibre with the following parameters: Modulus of elasticity: about 45,000 N/mm 2 Highest tensile force: about 2,000 N/strand Breaking strain: about 5.5 % Combustion behaviour: similar to steel Continuous vibration behaviour: higher than with steel Resistance: outstanding continuous resistance in acidic and alkaline ranges Area/strand: 0.71 mm 2 /strand Linear stress-elongation behaviour. For the avoidance and prevention of cracks due to squeeze loadings Static reinforcement for the absorption of tensile and compressive forces The alternative to flat supports Reinforcement of pre-fabricated brickwork panels, see construction authority approval Z As structural reinforcement in earthquake regions For increasing the compressive strength with light-weight mortars For butt joint anchoring in masonry work: Standard version number of storeys ag 2 1 x Griprip-S in every third layer joint Spacing 75 cm number of storeys 2 < ag 4 1 x Griprip-S in every second layer joint Spacing 50 cm If it is not possible to use the standard version, the calculation can be carried out in accordance with DIN 1045, Item Particularly suitable for bonding-in with mortar or sticking with adhesive mortar No risk of injury Item No. Type Breaking load Width Length kn mm m A A A A A A A Griprip-S 6,5* 85 0,30 * * Breaking load referred to pull-out tests on masonry work.
