Study programmes are delivered by experienced staff in industry standard, well-equipped workshops. Due to the need to acquire essential skills in each discipline, progression to the higher levels is dependent upon successful completion of each lower level. Tresham has excellent links with industry and has helped students to gain apprenticeships and employment with local companies. Our Level 3 Diploma in Technical/Professional Construction would also provide sufficient UCAS points to pursue a related course in higher education. COURSE CODE: TCC111 DURATION: 2 years 4 GCSEs grades A*-C or 9-4 including English and maths OR a relevant qualification at Level 2.

4 CONSTRUCTION IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT (LEVEL 3) JENNIFER S STORY STUDYING: BRICKLAYING LEVEL 1 I have been a stay at home mum for a while now, so returning to full-time education was a big decision. I enrolled on the Bricklaying course because I have ambitions to work on my own house extension. The tutors are really good too; they have industry experience and use this in their teaching. COURSE CODE: TCC111 DURATION: 2 years 4 GCSEs grades A*-C or 9-4 including English and maths OR a relevant qualification at Level 2. STUDY You will study a range of units which may include: building surveying tendering and estimating science and materials civil engineering design procedures. A combination of written assignments and project work. You will need to have access to basic personal protective equipment (PPE) for approx. three site visits. You will also need to purchase two textbooks (approx. total cost 40), stationery and drawing equipment. This will be essential for me, as after I complete my course I will look to become a self-employed painter and decorator.

I m currently doing an apprenticeship, which has provided me with a great vocational experience and a feel for the business aspect of the trade. This will be essential for me, as after I complete my course I will look to become a self-employed painter and decorator. 12 Full-time Study Programme Guide ELIZABETH S STORY STUDYING: PAINTING AND DECORATING LEVEL 2 I m doing an apprenticeship at Kettering Borough Council where I work in the Voids Team; our job is to prepare empty properties for the next tenants. I really enjoy the work and get a real sense of satisfaction from transforming a property that may be in a poor state into a good looking home. This course will give me the qualifications I need to progress in the property maintenance industry. I eventually want to work towards becoming a Quantity Surveyor. Call: Visit: 13

COMPLETE THIS STUDY This course will prepare you for further studies on an apprenticeships BRADLEY S STORY STUDYING: PLASTERING LEVEL 1 My Granddad was a Plasterer and I helped him with the odd job, so that is what made me apply for this course. I have really enjoyed learning in the workshop; we are set a range of practical tasks and get lots of good advice from the tutors. I did my work experience placement at the builder s merchants Howarth Timber. It went really well and I was able to try lots of things, like working in the stock room learning about the range of products, and also working on the store floor dealing with customers. I really like how I get to work at my own pace; it s a different way of learning compared to school.
