6 ABRASION RESISTANT PIPE Edgen Murray is the principal provider of Abrasion Resistant Pipe (Slurry Pipe) for the U.S. and Canada. With a minimum average brinell of 230, the pipe s highly durable composition is resistant to wear and abrasive materials, yet maintains ductility and workability in the field. That makes AR Pipe the most cost-effective option for long-term use in dredging, various mining activities, power plants and other abrasive applications. Edgen Murray is the primary stocking distributor in the country, maintaining a preferred relationship with American Steel Pipe, the nations preeminent AR Pipe producer. American is also unique in their capability to produce and hydrostatically test lengths up to 100 ft., while international competitors only offer up to 50 ft. lengths. Edgen Murray surpasses other distributors in knowledge and experience, and offers considerable expertise in flanging services and welding in the field. Mill test reports certifying chemical and physical properties are available on all AR pipe. Physical Properties: Elongation: - Minimum 20% Brinell Hardness: - Minimum average 230 BHN Weld Flash: - Maximum height of 1/8, with a minimum wall thickness of 95% of nominal wall thickness. Wall Thickness: - The average wall thickness of all pipe combined on a given rolling shall not be less than the nominal wall thickness. Diameter: - The diameter of no more than 1/32 smaller or 3/32 larger than the tabulated outside diameter for a distance of 4 from the end of the pipe. 14 STRUCTURAL PLATE Americas: APAC: EMEA: Plate is normally held in 6 metre, 10 metre or 12.2 metre lengths in widths of 2 metre, 2.5 metre and 3.05 metre. An infinite length and width variety together with alternate material specification options are also available through mill sources. To calculate the weight of a reversing mill plate, the following formula should be applied: Length (m) x Width (m) x Thickness (mm) x or The following is a selection of examples and are typical of Edgen Murray stock supply. LENGTH (M) THICKNESS (MM) WEIGHT FACTOR (KG/MM) WEIGHT FACTOR (KG/MM) PLATE WEIGHT (TONNES) The use of either 7.85 or 8.00 kg per mm of thickness as the weight factor is dependent upon the mill of production and the material grade. On occasion other weight factors may be applied. This is particularly the case with respect to Alloy Products such as Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloys. Please always check with your normal point of contact. Plates are supplied to the dimensional and flatness tolerances of the relevant product standard. Likewise material will be tested in accordance with the relevant product standard. Modifications to such standards are possible and this should be discussed with us as necessary. Edgen Murray also has in place with the major plate mill manufacturers a fully comprehensive list of Proprietary Specifications to facilitate ease of ordering. These specifications are based upon the principal National Standards applicable to Offshore Quality materials with appropriate and relevant modified enhancements.
