Our environmentally friendly, patented joint filling sand contains a growth inhibiting combination of dried silica sand and special minerals. This unique mix creates almost desertlike conditions that inhibit weed growth and germination in the joints - partly because of the naturally high ph value. The sand is available in a stylish light colour that complements most concrete pavements. Durability Strong, stable, tight joints depend on carefully graded sand with the right mix of finegrained material. The sand is kiln-dried to make joint filling as easy and effective as possible - even in narrow joints. 3 Dansand Joint Filling Sand has been tested by the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences The Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences Department of Integrated Pest Management has tested Dansand Joint Filling Sand for weed germination and growth. Tests proved that the weed inhibiting additives in Dansand Joint Filling Sand ensure shoots wither and die. Dansand Joint Filling Sand is available in grades of 0-2 mm Dansand Joint Filling Sand is ideal for areas with concrete stones, or other pavements with small joints. The sand is ideal for walkways or areas with light traffic with a maximum joint width of 5 mm. Average consumption: 3-5 kg/sq m. Dansand Joint Filling Sand is available in practical 25 kg bags, with 40 bags per pallet.

4 How to use Dansand Joint Filling Sand For best results, the joints must be filled carefully. If the sand settles over time, refill the joints immediately to prevent soil and dust contamination and avoid weed germination. 1 Before filling the joints, start by mixing the sand with a shovel to evenly distribute the grains of sand. Then pour plenty of Dansand Joint Filling Sand onto the pavement. 2 Brush the Dansand Joint Filling Sand into the joints. For optimal results, brush diagonally and straight across the joints. 3 Use a vibrating machine to compress the sand into the joints. We recommend that you go over the joints, overlapping 50% each way to compact both the lengthwise and transverse joints.

5 4 If the joints are not properly filled, brush more sand into the joints. Once again, brush the joints diagonally and straight across. 5 Check the joints with a filling knife. If the joints are properly filled, the filling knife will only penetrate one or two centimetres into the joint. 6 Finally, remove excess sand with a soft broom and top up any remaining joints completely. Store the excess joint filling sand in a dry place, ready for top ups. 7 The result is attractive and appealing joints that inhibit weed growth. Remember to refill the joints when necessary.

Winter s rain and wind can remove a little of the joint filler and soil the paving. Clean the pavement with soap or algae remover and brush with a stiff broom.

6 Maintenance Good maintenance gives better results Joints filled with weed-inhibiting Dansand Joint Filling Sand are easy to maintain. The sand inhibits weeds between the joints, but to ensure it remains effective, keep the joints full and soil-free at all times. We also recommend that you thoroughly clean the pavement each spring. To finish off, fill the joints to prevent soil or dust penetration. Always remove any soil before filling joints with Dansand Joint Filling Sand. 7 Tips and advice Dansand Joint Filling Sand is not suitable for natural stones or tiled surfaces. Joint filing sand is for ourdoor use only, and should not come into contact with foundations or masonry. In extremely dry weather, the additives in the sand can produce white patches on stones. These are easily removed with water. Dansand Joint Filling Sand is unsuitable for covered areas. The sacks are not moisture resistant and must be stored under dry conditions. Joint should be filled in dry weather and on dry paving.
