2 Product Detais Fastened Directy to Concrete Soffit Figure 1 The Upper Facing Concrete wa Concrete foor Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board The upper facing of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board is a gass tissue based facing, adhesivey bonded to the insuation core during manufacture. The Core The core of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board is a premium performance rigid thermoset fiber-free phenoic insuant manufactured with a bowing agent that has zero Ozone Depetion Potentia (ODP) and ow Goba Warming Potentia (GWP). The Exposed Facing The exposed facing of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board is a ow emissivity composite foi, autohesivey bonded to the insuation core during manufacture. The exposed facing used on Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board has not been designed with the purpose of an aesthetic finish as its primary function. Where appearance is critica, advice shoud be sought from the Kingspan Insuation Technica Service Department. Durabiity If correcty instaed, Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board can have an indefinite ife. Its durabiity depends on the supporting structure and the conditions of its use. If the buiding is considered to be in an exposed ocation advice shoud be sought from the Kingspan Insuation Technica Service Department to determine the product s suitabiity. Resistance to Sovents, Fungi & Pests The insuation core is resistant to short term contact with petro and with most diute acids, akais and minera ois. However, it is recommended that any spis be ceaned off fuy before the boards are instaed. Ensure that safe methods of ceaning are used, as recommended by suppiers of the spied iquid. The insuation core is not resistant to some sovent based adhesive systems, particuary those containing methy ethy ketone. Adhesives containing such sovents shoud not be used in association with this product. Damaged boards or boards that have been in contact with harsh sovents or acids shoud not be used. The insuation core and facings used in the manufacture of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board resist attack by mod and microbia growth, and do not provide any food vaue to pests. Standards and Approvas Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board is manufactured to the highest standards under a management system certified to ISO 9001: 2008 (Quaity Management Systems. Requirements), ISO 14001: 2004 (Environmenta Management Systems. Requirements), and OSHAS 18001:2007 (Occupationa Heath & Safety Management Systems. Requirements). 2

Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board (thicknesses up to, and incuding, 4.72 in / 120 mm) produced at Kingspan Insuation s Pembridge and Castebayney manufacturing faciities is certified as achieving Cass 1 Fire Rating to Factory Mutua Cass Number Fire Performance The rigid thermoset insuation core of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board, when subjected to the ASTM E 84 (Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Buiding Materias) fire test specified in the tabe beow, has achieved the resut shown. Fame Spread Therma Resistance Smoke Deveoped Further detais on the fire performance of Kingspan Insuation products may be obtained from Kingspan Insuation. The R vaues detaied beow are quoted in accordance with ASTM C 518 (Standard Test Method for Steady-State Therma Transmission Properties by Means of the Heat Fow Meter Apparatus). Therma resistance (R vaue) varies with thickness and is cacuated by dividing the thickness of the board by its therma conductivity. At the time of pubication, this specific insuation thickness must be buit up from two thinner ayers, but this may have changed by the time that the information in this iterature is reied upon. Pease contact Kingspan Insuation for current stock and non stock sizes (see rear cover for detais). Where mutipe ayers of insuation of different thicknesses are used, the thickest ayer shoud be instaed as the outermost ayer in the construction. For further detais pease contact the Kingspan Insuation Technica Service Department or aternativey search for Kingspan Insuation on Cass 1 Soffit Lining This approva is vaid for exposed ceiing / soffit instaation ony, with non combustibe was and a foor to ceiing / soffit height restriction of 30 feet (9.1 m). This approva is vaid for any fastening specification. However, for mechanica reasons, the fastening specification given on page 5 of this document and the taping specification given on page 6 must sti be foowed. 3

The product sha be manufactured: with a bowing agent that has zero Ozone Depetion Potentia (ODP) and ow Goba Warming Potentia (GWP); under a management system certified to BS / I.S. EN ISO 9001: 2008, BS / I.S. EN ISO 14001: 2004 and BS / I.S. OHSAS 18001: 2007; by Kingspan Insuation Limited; and instaed in accordance with the instructions issued by them. 4

5 Sitework Fastening Directy to Concrete Soffits Insuation boards shoud be instaed break bonded, with joints ighty butted. The number of mechanica fasteners required to fasten Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board wi vary with the geographica ocation of the buiding, the oca topography, the height and width of the soffit concerned, and the soffit construction. Recommended Fastening Patterns The images beow show recommended fastening patterns, the number of fasteners used and the resuting fastener density. The fastening patterns shown are suitabe for continuous fat (even) decks ony. For non-continuous decks contact the Kingspan Insuation Technica Service Department for further guidance. A minimum of 11 mechanica fasteners, with a minimum head diameter of 1 3 /8 in, are required to secure the insuation board to the soffit. The fasteners shoud be eveny distributed over the whoe area of the board, and must offer a minimum 1½ in penetration into a soid substrate. Pease refer to the coumn opposite for recommended fixing patterns. 11 Fasteners per board Fasteners at board edges must be ocated > 2 in and < 6 in from edges and corners of the board and not overap board joints. Insuation boards can aso be fitted by a shot fired fastening method which can resut in significanty faster instaation times. A of the guidance above sti appies. 6 Sitework Taping The joints of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board shoud aways be taped using a 3 in wide sef adhesive auminum foi tape. Consut a Kingspan representative. In the absence of other protection, exposed edges of Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board shoud be protected by a suitabe sef adhesive auminium foi tape, with a 2 in min. wide overap onto the insuation board face, see Figure 2. A Safety Data Sheet for this product is avaiabe from the Kingspan Insuation website Pease note that the refective surfaces on this product are designed to enhance its therma performance. As such, they wi refect ight as we as heat, incuding utravioet ight. Therefore, if this product is being instaed during very bright or sunny weather, it is advisabe to wear UV protective sungasses or gogges, and if the skin is exposed for a significant period of time, to protect the bare skin with a UV bock sun cream. The refective facings used on this product can be sippery when wet. Therefore, it is recommended that any excess materia shoud be contained to avoid a sip hazard. Warning do not stand on or otherwise support your weight on this product uness it is fuy supported by a oad bearing surface. Ensure accurate trimming to achieve cose butting joints and continuity of insuation. Avaiabiity Kingspan Kootherm K10 FM Soffit Board is avaiabe through speciaist insuation distributors throughout the US. Packaging and Storage The poyethyene packaging of Kingspan Insuation products, which is recycabe, shoud not be considered adequate for outdoor protection. Ideay, boards shoud be stored inside a buiding. If, however, outside storage cannot be avoided, then the boards shoud be stacked cear of the ground and covered with an opaque poyethyene sheet or weatherproof tarp. Boards that have been aowed to get wet shoud not be used. 6
