1 se/sh series sticks TECHNICL T SHEET NO. 301 SE Series Sticks sha be as manufactured or furnished by Repubic oors and Frames, McKenzie, Tennessee (SH profie aso avaiabe) Repubic pre-engineered stee frame components caed sticks provide unimited fexibiity for opening systems. Stick components are used to fabricate even the most compex entrance fronts, partitions and window wa designs. The variety of jamb depths and sizes permit greater design freedom. Because stick assembies are normay weded, they offer strength without seams showing between vertica and horizonta members. These openings can be designed for any job requirement, fabricated from factory components, and assembed and weded by factory trained Repubic istributors. Because sticks can be shipped as components and fabricated ocay, shipping costs, job deays and design imitations are greaty reduced. Frame assembies sha be made of standard stick components, fabricated from prime quaity 16, 14 or 12 gage, cod-roed or gavanneaed stee. Where sticks are used at door openings in the frame assembies, they sha be prepared for a hardware specified. Frame assembies sha be fabricated from three basic components: Open sections (perimeter members), Muion sections (intermediate members) and Si sections (bottom members). Muion sections sha have identica jamb depths, face dimensions and stops as open sections. Muion sections are ony avaiabe in 16 and 14 gages. Si sections sha be fush with both faces of adjacent vertica members. The individua sticks sha be cut to ength and notched to ensure square joints and corners. joints and corners of the frame assemby sha be weded and ground smooth at the face of the sections. stick components and frame assembies sha be phosphatized and receive one coat of force-cured rust inhibiting prime paint. Stee channe gazing beads sha be provided with the assembies for a areas in which gass is to be instaed. Frame assembies may be shipped to jobsite competey weded. Fied joints sha be permitted ony when the size of the tota assemby exceeds shipping imitations. When frame assembies are subjected to windoads, vertica members sha be free of fied spices. Physica properties and wind oad tabes were cacuated by a registered engineer and are based on the Specifications for the esign of Cod-Formed Stee Structura Members, 1969 Edition, pubished by the merican Iron & Stee Institute. Tabe I ists the physica properties of open sections. These sections are usuay used as perimeter components in any frame assemby and are not critica components of that assemby because perimeter components must be securey anchored to buiding was. Tabe II ists the physica properties of the cosed sections. These sections are usuay used as the intermediate horizonta and vertica components and are usuay found to be the critica sections in any frame assemby. The critica component in any frame assemby is usuay the component having the ongest unsupported ength or supporting the argest frame area in wind oading. The most frequenty encountered probem is that of designing an intermediate component to resist wind oad ony. For this reason, Tabe III is incuded.
