The dri is avaiabe as a specia too with immediate effect. In addition to the correct choice of carbide suitabe for the machining of auminium, Guhring has paid specia attention to the cutting edge geometry and the fute form when deveoping the RT 100 T ALU. They offer the foowing specia features: Spira futes with rake ange and improved surface quaity The fute design with a rake ange of ensures a consideraby shorter chip trave. In addition, the high surface quaity of the fute offers the chips ow friction resistance. The RT 100 T ALU evacuates the optimay formed chips efficienty from deep hoes without probem. The procedure for machining auminium To achieve optima machining resuts in the production of deep hoes with the RT 100 T ALU particuary when pioting on radii and/or uneven surface, we recommend the foowing machining steps: 1. Miing of fat, i. e. with Guhring Ratio end mi RF 100 U inc. centre cutting. The fat must be at right anges to the entry of the driing operation. 2. Producing a cyindrica piot hoe (toerance F9) with a minimum driing depth of 1xD (up to 3xD). We recommend our Ratio dri RT 100 U. Thanks to its point ange of 0 and its Ø-toerance m7 it is ideay suited for this machining step. 3. Entering the spira-fute deep hoe dri RT 100 T ALU in the piot hoe with a speed of appr. 300 rev./min and a feed rate of appr. 500 mm/min. 4. Setting the cooing ubricant pressure and speed. 5. Due to the reativey high cutting speeds we recommend, especiay for the machining of auminium, to increase the cutting speed in severa steps to the end vaue, i.e. with the program specification f Lin, unti reaching a driing depth of 5xD. 6. Continuous driing to fu driing depth without pecking cyce. 7. For through hoes with obique exit reduce the feed rate v f appr. 1 mm prior to break-through by 40%. 8. 64 The driing process A brief introduction to the subject of deep hoe gun driing In the machining word, driing depths of 10 x D and deeper are regarded as deep hoe driing operations, whereby smaer driing depths can naturay aso be produced with gun dris. Advantage is taken of the positive side effects, as for exampe good surface quaity, ow deviation from concentricity and optimised aignment accuracy. High pressure cooing - has become a matter of course. In recent years, interna cooing has estabished itsef for a driing toos. Cooants are now iving up to their name and being suppied via cooant ducts to where they are urgenty required. Considerabe improvements in too ife and ess breakages have been achieved by this measure for twist dris, taps etc. Every conventiona machine too currenty on the market can be suppied with high pressure interna cooing and is therefore aso suitabe for deep hoe driing. The share of gun dris on machining centres, athes etc. is forever gaining more importance. The process is therefore increasing in popuarity in the machining word. A gun dris must have support for the piot hoe. Gun dris must never operate at fu speed without support in the machine shop. Deep hoe driing is not a cosed book, but can be mastered by anybody as ong as certain conditions are adhered to. Recommended cutting rates for the appication of Guhring gun dris can be found on the pages for the individua types! Typica procedure with a gun dris on conventiona machine toos: production of piot hoe (L = 1.5 x D, toerance H8) enter at ow revoutions, approx. 200 rev./min, feed rate approx. 500 mm/min. With toos for driing depths in excess than 40 x D enter the piot hoe revoving in eft hand direction. setting of cooant pressure and revoutions uninterrupted driing to required driing depth without wood pecking. When appying gun dris with increased ength-diameter-ratio, we recommend machining with reduced cutting parameters (approx. 75% of the optima cutting speed) up to a driing depth of approx. 25 mm. switching off cooant suppy after reaching the required hoe depth withdrawa in top gear with stationary spinde Appication advice For driing depths in excess than 40 x D we recommend the use of two or more gun dris, e. g. Ø 10 x 400 mm and Ø 9.95 x 800 mm. Gun dris for driing depths of more than 40 x D shoud enter the piot hoe revoving in the eft hand direction. When changing toos for driing depths of more than 40 x D, the too can be damped by switching on cooant suppy for just one second. For machining of ong-chipping materias we recommend the use of gun dris with poished futes. Generay we recommend the use of soube oi with a minimum oi content of 10 %. Singe-futed gun dris for ong-chipping auminium shoud be suppied with point grind 180 and cooant chamber. When spotting in auminium with an Si-content of ess than 1%, i.e. with recommended cutting rates v c > 0 m/min we recommend to advance to the fina speed in severa steps. In addition, a deeper piot hoe of approximatey 3 x D shoud be produced. Aignment accuracy* Because brazed singe-futed gun dris aways have the precision carbide head brazed on to a fexibe tube, the too achieves very accurate aigned hoes remaining unaffected by possibe concentricity errors. Production of a cyindrica piot hoe (toerance F9) with a minimum driing depth of 1 x D. For this operation we recommend our Ratio dris RT 100 U or RT 100 F respectivey. Thanks to a 0º point ange and a m7 toerance on diameter these Ratio dris are especiay suitabe for this machining task. 3. Entry of spira-fute deep hoe dri RT 100 T in the piot hoe at a speed of approx. 300 rev./min and with a feed rate of approx. 500 mm/min. 4. Setting of cooant pressure and speed. 5. Continuous driing to compete hoe depth without wood pecking. 6. For through hoes with pain - i.e exit, reduce feed rate v f to 50 % approx. 1 mm prior to break-through. 7. For through hoes with obique exit, reduce the feed rate v f to 40% approx. 1 mm prior to break-through. 8. Without interna cooing the chips cannot be evacuated. - A gun dris can be appied with oi as the medium for interna cooing. However, in this case a 30% higher pressure is required in order to achieve the same cooant voume. - When MQL is appied with gun dris an increase in pressure may be necessary for smaer nomina diameters de pendent on the pressure of the MQL system. - If the cooing ubricant data is insufficient the cutting parameters may be reduced.
