RIICCM209D Carry Out Concrete Work Assessment Plan
Assessment Plan This document contains all details of how the assessment will be conducted and the resources required to complete the assessment. The task details, specific instructions to assessors and task checklists are available in the Final Practical Test Assessor Only document. Make sure all resources outlined within this plan are available before starting the final assessment. Assessment 1 Confirm Details of Concreting Work The learner is required to read all relevant documentation for planning out the task and making sure work activity meets requirements for safety and quality. The assessor will need to make sure all resources, information and documents are available for the purposes of the assessment and determine that the learner knows where to look for them on the work site. The assessor needs to ensure that any health and safety guidelines used during the assessment are relevant to the civil construction industry and make a note of the health and safety guidelines used. 1 set of task instructions, plans or specifications for a civil construction concreting task. 1 project document that identifies quality requirements (may be included with the work instructions or in a civil construction plan). 1 copy of a policy or procedure relevant to civil construction, concreting or site operations. 1 copy of emergency response instructions relevant to the work site. Civil force Training Assessment Plan Page 2
Assessment 2 Inspect and Prepare the Work Area The learner is required to identify, report and manage hazards in the work area at a basic level, using predetermined control methods and techniques outlined in task instructions or safety documentation. At a minimum hazards that should be identified and managed during this assessment should include: Selection of PPE. Traffic control and site isolation. Space or Location Requirements: There should be enough space to allow a learner to walk around the work area to carry out the task of hazard identification. Any environmental hazards or issues identified need to be managed as appropriate. All details of environmental protection measures implemented during the assessment need to be documented. Reporting of hazards needs to be demonstrated. This may be achieved through the use of a form (such as a Take-5 or equivalent) or verbally. Details of verbal reporting need to be documented by the assessor. Work instructions outlining control measures for common hazards related to the task. Personnel protective equipment relevant to the task including a minimum of: Hi-vis clothing. Safety helmet. Safety boots. Barricades and signage for traffic control and site isolation. Civil force Training Assessment Plan Page 3
Assessment 3 and 4 Carry Out Concrete Work For each assessment the learner is required to carry out a concreting task as part of a civil construction project. This includes: Confirming the details of the task and choosing appropriate materials and equipment. Setting out the concrete work in accordance with the plan. Constructing and placing reinforcements for the concrete. Erecting formwork. Placing, compacting and finishing concrete to achieve the required finish. Covering and protecting concrete after the work is complete. Space or Location Requirements: The work area should be adequately isolated from any other operations for the duration of the assessment. The location needs to be large enough, and made up of materials that can be levelled using basic techniques and equipment. Care must be taken at all times to prevent any harm to the environment through the spilling of chemicals or materials that may be harmful. The task needs to reflect realistic work requirements. The dimensions, type and complexity of tasks needs to be consistent with common civil construction project concreting activities. 1 set of task instructions, plans or specifications for a civil construction concreting task. Concrete (materials). Formwork components and materials. Reinforcement components and materials. Cutting tools and equipment. Tape measure. String line and pegs. Concreting tools and equipment (select from the list): Floats. Curing agent applicators. Short handle shovels. Hoses. Tremmies. Steam generators. Trowels. Nips. Rods. Buckets. Chutes. Shutters. Edging tools. Bolt cutters. Hammers. Edging tools. Vibrators. Brushes. Screeds. Reinforcement benders. Pre-mix trucks. Tarpaulins. Rakes. Cranes. Wheelbarrows. Mesh guillotines. Kibbles. Civil force Training Assessment Plan Page 4
Assessment 5 Strip Formwork and Conduct Housekeeping Activities The learner is required to strip the formwork from the area and tidy up. This includes: Removing all components in the right order. Cleaning all parts. Disposing damaged equipment. Storing components. Clearing the work area. Cleaning and maintaining all tools and equipment. Processing written records. Cleaning needs to be done in a designated area that does not have a negative impact on the environment through the use and disposal of cleaning agents. Completion of a fault report. Completion of isolation of defective equipment in line with site or common civil construction safety requirements. Note: If no fault is identified the assessor needs to give the learner a scenario where defective, damaged or faulty equipment has been identified and ensure that they complete a fault report to reflect the details provided in the scenario. Tools and equipment used during concreting activities. Cleaning equipment and product. Fault report. Relevant housekeeping records (Assessor must identify the type and purpose of any written records that need to be processed). Civil force Training Assessment Plan Page 5
