2 RONDO PANTHER Wall & Ceiling Access Panels GENERAL INFORMATION The Rondo PANTHER range of Metal Face, Sound Rated and Fire Rated Access Panel Systems have been designed to meet the requirements of the Building Codes of Australia and New Zealand for both Domestic and Commercial installations. Rondo PANTHER Access Panel Systems are designed for internal installation only in both stud and masonry walls and suspended ceiling systems as required. The prime purpose is to provide access through a suspended ceiling or a wall to enable simple maintenance and adjustment of services within. Rondo recommends that you ensure you are referring to the latest version of this guide by comparing it to the one on our website. FEATURES & BENEFITS FEATURE Code Compliance Range of Sizes and Finishes Three standard lock options for most panels Individually packed World First Polymer design BENEFIT Builder can enjoy peace of mind that all Rondo Sound Rated and Fire Rated Panels have been tested and certified to meet the requirements of the minimal BCA. SRAP panels can achieve acoustic ratings of R w +Ctr 28 or R w 30. The Rondo Panther Panels all come in up to 4 standard sizes, and 2 different surround finishes, giving the architect a range of design options. Flexibility and safety are offered with the choice of a Square Key Budget Lock, Numbered Key Cam-Lock, Concealed Touch Latch or a Magnetic Catch. Individual packaging ensures all of our Rondo Panther Panels reach their destination in good condition. Rondo standard Sound Rated panels are at least 30% lighter than comparative products on the market. Their unique design enables them to be face fixed in both flanged and set bead variations, saving the contractor substantial time and money on site. ACCESS PANEL HARDWARE OPTIONS Budget Lock Standard lock for MFAP, SRAP & 1 Hour FRAP (Note: FRAP & SRAP square key lock back sealed) Cam Lock* Alternative keyed lock for SRAP Panels only, 2 keys supplied per panel, all panels are supplied keyed alike or can be supplied with differing keyed barrels. Touch Latch* Supplied for MFAP & SRAP panels only and up to 450x450 size only. Panels have 2 latches for added security. Magnetic Catch* Supplied for SRAP 300 x 300, 450 x 450, and 530 x 530 sized panels only. By placing the magnetic key beneath the lock, the latch is released and the door will open. Removing the key allows the latch to spring back and the door is closed by simply pushing it into position until it `clicks closed. * These locks are supplied by order, requiring lead times, and are at an additional cost. ADDITIONAL ACCESS PANELS Aluminium Manhole Frames Designed for simple access to services through ceilings only, with a panel of building board being cut to fit into the profile. Rondo PANTHER Tile Panel (RPTP) Manufactured to order only to provide access through tiled walls to services such as controls for spa baths, etc. HP-51 High Performance Panels Manufactured to order only for use in walls or vertical bulkhead faces for access particularly to soil, waste and water pipe work in residential buildings where the BCA requirement for specific noise insulation requirements of a minimum R w Sound rating of 51 is required with an R w + Ctr of 41. 3 rondo panther INSTALLATION MFAP METAL FACED ACCESS PANEL FLANGED OR SET BEAD MFAP Flanged MFAP Set Bead 1. Cut a hole in the lining board to match panel size as marked on box adding 5mm each side to allow for clearance (refer to Figure 1). 2. Trim around the opening using 64mm steel studs, screw fixed to the plasterboard. 3. Bend the metal fixings tags, located around the inside of the frame, to the vertical position and insert the panel into the opening. 4. Screw fix through the tags into the support framing. Ensure the support framing is securely fixed to the ceiling grid. 5. Finish as required. 4 SRAP SOUND RATED ACCESS PANEL FLANGED OR SET BEAD SRAP Flanged SRAP Set Bead 1. Cut a hole in the lining board to match panel size as marked on box adding 5mm each side to allow for clearance (refer to Figure 1). 2. Trim around the opening using 64mm steel studs, screw fixed to the plasterboard. 3. Without opening the door screw fix the panel to the framing via the pre-formed countersunk holes in the surrounding bead or flange. NOTE: Ensure support framing is installed so it is an integral part of the ceiling framing and if necessary install additional ceiling hangers. 4. Open the door and install the security screws through the inside of the frame. 5. A bead of appropriate sealant should be applied around the frame before insertion into the opening. 6. Install safety chain, if supplied. 7. Finish as required. 5 FRAP 1 HOUR & 2 HOUR FIRE RATED ACCESS PANELS FRAP 1HR Flanged FRAP 1HR Set Bead FRAP 2HR Flanged FRAP 2HR Set Bead 1. Cut a hole in the lining board to match panel size as marked on box adding 5mm each side to allow for clearance (refer to Figure 1). 2. As these panels are heavy, use minimum 76mm stud as support framing so the frame becomes an integral part of the ceiling framework. NOTE: If necessary install additional ceiling hangers to add support to the ceiling framing. 3. Secure the panels by installing fixings screws through the inner face of the frame into the support using a minimum of 2 screws per side to all 4 sides. 4. Fire resistant caulking material should always be applied around the perimeters of these frames as illustrated. 5. Install safety chain, if supplied. 6. Finish as required.
