Unlike single wire adapters, the Hub has four input ports to support even more wallbox types such as the Seeburg DEC, Wurlitzer 0, Wurlitzer plus others. The Hub is also a valuable tool for product development and testing, without the high costs. The Hub contains a built in setup utility to configure the output model and the four input ports. Each input port can be assigned to one of fourteen common wallbox types or you can create a new custom coded type. The setup configuration is saved to memory and will not be erased when powered down. The Hub also includes a testing function that shows the actual wallbox selection number received as well as the translated selection number to be transmitted. The Hub is supplied with a single DSUB output cable of your choice. The manual contains other cable diagrams that you can build yourself or you can purchase separately. You can increase your wallbox system capacity by connecting one Hub output to another Hub input. Each additional Hub will provide a net gain of three input ports. 2 Hub Utility Hub Utility The Universal Wallbox Hub was designed with the idea of maximum flexibility. Instead of being limited by jumpers and switches, a built-in program allows you to examine and make changes to the EEPROM configuration memory. The EEPROM memory is non-volatile, which means, your changes will not be erased from loss of power. To run the utility, you will need a PC with a USB port. You will also need a Terminal Emulation program, such as HyperTerminal or PuTTY. HyperTerminal was included free with Windows 9 up to about Windows XP. PuTTY is a freeware program that you can download from the web, and also works with Microsoft Windows 0, macos and Linux. To begin the setup, connect the USB-to-Serial Port adapter to the Hub then plug it into your PC USB port. If you need drivers or more information about the USB setup, do a web search for "USB-Serial CH0 installation". Start up HyperTerminal or PuTTY then enter the setup data shown in the screen images for the appropriate program (following this page). The example below was for a demonstration of four completely different wallboxes connected to a WiPod player. 5 DSUB Cable Diagrams Wallbox Input Ports Port # Wire Colors Blue & Black Brown & Yellow Red & Green Orange & White DSUB Interface The wallbox connector has four individual wire-pairs allowing up to four "-Wire" selectors to be connected. Other wallbox types, with two or more signal wires, can also be connected by using additional input ports. This includes models such as the Seeburg DEC (x sig), the Wurlitzer (x sig) and the Wurlitzer 0 (x sig). The wallbox inputs are electrically isolated and operate at signal levels of - volts AC or DC (no polarity). For each output application, a DSUB cable provides the hub power and the interface signals to communicate or control the Jukebox, WiPod, WB-MP Player or PC. The "Hub Utility" Setup uses the PC Serial Port. A USB to Serial Port adapter is provided if not available. Some PC applications also use the Serial Port. One example is our old "PCPlaybox" program (Windows ME to XP). The Universal Wallbox Hub is supplied with a single DSUB cable of your choice. Others can be purchased separately.
