1 The Florida Urban Forestry Council welcomes you to the 2016 Urban Forestry Institute at Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, Gainesville, Florida. We are excited to bring you this educational forum filled with exceptional speakers and breakouts sessions. This year s theme, Urban Forests Forever! Creating a Sustainable and Resilient Urban Forest, will cover topics ranging from forest and biological diversity to insect and disease to climate change effects on the urban forest. You will hear about how extreme weather and weather changes are affecting the urban forest and participate in discussions on managing the urban forest. Discussions will also occur on the stresses and challenges the urban forest faces. No matter if you are a forester, urban designer, landscape architect, or utility forester, there is something to learn during this conference that will help you with the day-to-day and future challenges in managing the urban forest. Special thanks go to our sponsors and exhibitors for their strong support of the Urban Forestry Institute as it is through their generous contributions that the Florida Urban Forestry Council is able to offer programs such as this. Thank you for your participation in this year s Urban Forestry Institute and your commitment to the future of our urban forest.
