2 Description Bunkers Wood is a charming small broadleaved wood set within a larger woodland in the stunning Cotswold Hills. Located just off the main A436, both the city of Gloucester and the spa town of Cheltenham are only 5 miles away. Positioned up a short track, Bunkers Wood is an Ancient Semi Natural Wood that contains mature beech, ash and oak. Pioneering tree species populate the middle and lower canopy of this diverse wood, offering a super selection of cherry, birch and hazel. The trees were thinned some time ago which has allowed light into the wood and encouraged the growth of a profusion of ground flora. Emerging from winter, we observed fresh shoots of bluebells, snowdrops, primroses and a few honeysuckle plants. Bunkers Wood has woodland on all sides except the south which borders open grass fields offering lovely views beyond, begging to be explored. Access to the wood is over a slightly rustic track that would favour a 4WD in the wetter months, but has a firm base at the start to pull a car in off the road and turn around. If It Were Mine: I would maintain the tree planting carried out a few years ago and identify any trees that would benefit the wood as a whole if felled. That would keep me warm in the summer and the winter. I would also find a suitable tree from which to put a rope swing (every child loves a swing) and find or make a decent perch to oversee my wood with a warm beverage. This wood was originally conveyed excluding the timber on it dated This charge has since been relinquished, thereby including the trees within the sale of the wood. Directions & Access Leave the M5 at junction 11A and take to A417 towards Cirencester/London. Up the hill to the roundabout take the first exit on to the A436. After about 500 metres down the hill you will see a layby on the right of the road shortly followed by our Woods4Sale sign. This marks the entrance to the wood, which is a locked barrier gate, point A on the plan. Please park in the layby and continue on foot. I m sorry but we do not give out keys for viewing.
