1 DR. NUR JULIANI SHAFIE Lecturer School of Marine and Environmental Sciences Universiti Malaysia Terengganu QUALIFICATIONS Doctor of Philosophy (Ecology and Wildlife Management), Universiti Sains Malaysia Master of Science (Environmental Biology), Universiti Sains Malaysia Bachelor of Science (Animal Biology), Universiti Sains Malaysia FIELD OF RESEARCH Vertebrate ecology Animal conservation Ecology and distribution of volant and non-volant small mammals Behaviour of volant small mammals RESEARCH INTEREST My research focuses on the ecology of vertebrate animals especially small mammals including volant and non-volant. I also study their distribution and habitat suitability using Geographical Information System (GIS). Furthermore, my reasearch also includes the study of behaviour of volant small mammals in both nature and captive conditions. Currently, I am studying the community-based conservation strategy that involves local communities in order to determine their knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and awareness toward small mammals especially bats. This finding is very crucial since the population of bats has declined from year to year caused by human activities.
