18 Clay Mine Rio Grande National Forest near Creede, Colorado June 2011 Scope of Work In an effort to stabilize the mine, the HistoriCorps team will: Repair the main support posts and braces Tighten structural framing connections & replace missing wall planks on ore bin Construct the framed enclosure on the open bin top, sheath and roof the framed structure Construct framed enclosure (roof), which is the trestle, log cross ties, and railing that accessed the bin. 19 Seventy-five years of exposure has deteriorated the decorative log-end treatments to the point of necessitating crown replacement. Additional work will include reroofing the building in cedar shingles, replacing deteriorated sill logs, and repairing historic windows. Cascade Cabin Grand Teton National Park July 2011

20 Harris Ranch San Juan National Forest July & August 2011 Scope of Work The three structures (cabin, tack-room, and corral) of the Harris Ranch all require immediate preservation treatments to maintain the site s historical significance and integrity and to prevent the irreplaceable and unavoidable loss of historic fabric. HistoriCorps will: Reestablish foundation on cabin & tack house Repair deteriorated floor joists Repair or replace deteriorated sill logs and log crib Replace log chinking Repair windows and doors on cabin & tack house Repair damaged wood decking Install metal sheathing on tack house Remove soil build-up Replace of damaged posts in corral area Partners & Volunteer Groups San Juan National Forest Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado Southwest Conservation Corps University of Colorado Denver
