Celebrating International Coil Limited Innovations,Creativity and Leadership Pitre Auger Turbine Hydrokinetic Energy Conversion System Switch to Clean, Secure & Sustainable Power!
What is Pitre Auger Turbine (PAT)? What does it do? - The PAT is a small hydrokinetic devicee providing clean, economically competitivee energy through Hydrokinetic Energy or Velocityof Flowing Water; - The Devicee is free-floating like a boat and can harness large amounts of hydro power from rivers, streams and canals without damaging the environment and biodiversity; - Invented by Mr. John Pitre of Natural Power Concepts (NPC), USA; - NPC and ICL have entered into a joint venture for exclusive worldwide manufacturingrights due to ICL s commercial, manufacturing and engineering expertise. How It Works? - PAT is a modern technology generating electricity from flowing water streams; - The turbines are used to harness the kinetic energy of flowing streams to generate electricity;
- The turbine produces power when the current spins a drill-shaped device called an auger, the tapered endings of which do not harm aquatic life; - The unique design creates a venturi-like effect, parting the water and accelerating it ontoo the blades, increasing the power potential of the device; - This design lets the turbine capture energy in shallow waters, tethered to bridges and other structures so that the auger is relatively easy to lift out of the water for maintenance. Salient Features of the Technology Runs and generates electricity 24 hours all-round the year Improved hydrokinet tic technology for generating electricity at low water flow rates Can be operated in a partially submerged or full submerged configuration Impervious resistant to debris and to fouling; unaffected by vegetation, ice and other environmental hazards Multiple units can be deployed together to create a substantial floating power plant with massive unit generation Multiple devices strung in tandem can be deployed in counter-rotating orientation to enhance the rotational value within a given column of water
Easy to Setup Does not involve setting up of large dams or problem of deforestation, submergence or rehabilitation Virtually carbon neutral, with no CO2 or other greenhouse gas emissions Non-Polluting No impact on aquatic life and other environmental concerns What are its Advantages? -Technologically Tested -Less Complexity in Operation -Easy O&M -Negligiblee Down Time -Tested, Customised and Highly Adaptable to different market conditions Reliability -Low CAPEX & Operating Cost -Long Economic Life -Financially Viable -Low per unit generation cost -Higher ROI; Low Risk -Higher Social & Economic Impact Affordability - 24Hrs*365Days -Black Start Capability -Multiple Configurations -Easy Deployment -High Movability; Wider Reach; Higher Social & Economic Impact Availability -Clean Source of Energy; Carbon Neutral, with no CO 2 or any greenhouse gas emissions; -Zero Environmental Effects; Negligible impact on aquatic life and biodiversity -Reduces dependence on other sources of power Sustainability How can PAT play a significant role? - PAT can play a significant role in the developing world s electrification drive; - Many villages/towns facing electric shortages along suitable water bodies can deploy the PAT to indigenously produce their electricity;
- Requires very few clearances as compared to other power generation sources; - No land acquisition equired; which is a major hassle and cause for delays in commissioning of power projects in many countries - No environmental side effects; PAT is an answer to the requirement for a clean source of energy - PAT requires lesser maintenance and performs at high efficiency making it more Cost Efficient, Productive and Financially Viable - Its easy assembly and deployment shall be a boon to remotee areas across the World Testing of the PAT - PAT was successfully tested in Oregon, USA and thetohana Canal at Fatehabad, Haryana, India. - The PAT received a very encouragingg responsee from all stakeholders, various governments and private investors. - An MoU has been signed for the PAT in Ghanaa andthe state govt. of Haryana to supply electricity generated through PAT. - Similar MoU is to be signed in many more developing nations in order to help electrify and provide basic necessities to the countries in a sustainable manner Assembled in less than 12Hrs at Site, Deployed in 45mins Successfully Deployed, Auger rotating at 45-48rpm, Speed of 2m/s Honorable CM of Haryana, Shri Khattarji visited the site to inspect the technology.
PAT s Performance - Chart showing PAT S power output with 45ft long auger at different levels of water velocity. - At water velocity of 2m/s, output the power is approximately 40kW/Hour, but with an increasee in water velocity by 1m/s increases the power output by more thandouble. Factors responsible for Economicc & Commercial Viability - PAT is 24*365 Operational; generating energy throughout the year unlike several other technologies - Negligible Commissio oning Time - No land acquisition equired - Fewer clearances required as compared to other power projects - The local production of the components not only keeps the costs low but also allows for timely supply of spares; - With a low project gestation period, the entire project is easy to set up with the ROI commencing almost immediately;
