10 Should SEIG Create two groups to address distributed and central issues? Distributed Photovoltaics - what is the utility industry business case, market approaches on building integrated and end-use applications, standardization of utility connections, capacity planning approaches, monitoring and billing strategies, synergies between solar electric and end-use technologies through energy efficiency, PHEV, and distributed storage, laboratory testing of these technologies at EPRI facilities, and sharing of case studies and best practices. Central Solar Plants - technical issues on cosine loss, achieving higher temperatures in thermal cycle, better working fluids, and integration of storage, utility access to incentives, learning by doing opportunities, need for expert working group, potential for combined cycle/hybrid, applying processes that have worked for coal fleet, reliable updates on technology status, economics and performance. 10
