Forutsetninger for det grønne skiftet i Oslo: Sustainable and circular consumption - from a city perspective
OSLO Oslo is the capital of Norway and the country s largest city with approximately 660,000 inhabitants. It is a compact capital city surrounded by the nationally protected forest Marka and by the Oslo Fjord. One of Europe s fastest growing cities
15 LOCAL DISTRICTS (BYDELER)
PUBLIC HEARING CONSUMPTION FOR THE FUTURE Strategy for a sustainable and circular consumption in Oslo Presented for public hearing 22nd of November Hearing until 15th of January 2018
CITY GOVERNMENT PLATFORM Lower consumption and ecological footprint Reduced material consumption will reduce Oslo s global ecological footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. The City Government s vision is for 100% materials recovery in Oslo and we will thus facilitate ever more recycling, re-use, and sharing. The City Government will: Develop a strategy for reducing consumption in Oslo, including initiatives for increased sharing, sorting of waste, consumption-minimising public procurement, more second-hand markets and less food waste Serve only vegetarian food at least one day a week in City canteens Establish a centre for urban ecological innovation

New waste strategy New procurement strategy
Oslo and Akershus highest consumption per capita in the country (2012: EURO) Ca. ⅔ of non-recycled waste could have been recycled reused or eaten ELECTRONICS: 26 kg EE-waste per capita per year in Oslo (2014) CLOTHES: 1/3 of clothes waste bin, could have been reused FOOD: 40 kg food waste per capita per year could have been eaten MEAT: We eat 76 kg meat per capita per year

VISION: Oslo is a circular and resource effective city which reduces its climate and environmental footprint
SUSTAINABLE AND CIRCULAR CONSUMPTION Sustainable consumption "the use of services and related products, which respond to basic needs and bring a better quality of life while minimizing the use of natural resources and toxic materials as well as the emissions of waste and pollutants over the life cycle of the service or product so as not to jeopardize the needs of further generations. Circular consumption Reduce material consumption: reduce the use of material resources in economic processes, in different phases in a life cycle perspective
