CONSULTANCY About DEWI Page 1 DEWI GmbH was founded in 1990 in Wilhelmshaven by the Federal State of Lower Saxony for the purpose of supporting the wind energy industry. While in the early years DEWI s activities concentrated on research, the services sector quickly gained in importance and today accounts for more than 75 % of company turnover. Our customers benefit from this combination of research and services, because it ensures that our services are always based on the latest findings. Grid Code Compliance In the field of grid integration DEWI carries out measurements and evaluations to determine the electrical characteristics and grid compatibility of wind turbines. New in the services portfolio of DEWI are special measurements for the analysis of the behaviour of wind turbines in case of a short-circuit in the grid. 7 Wind Turbine Test Site Page 12 DEWI operates a wind turbine test site near Wilhelmshaven which currently has ten prototypes of various European manufacturers with power installation ranges from 500 kw to 3000 kw, with a total of more than 19 MW capacity. DEWI-OCC also operates a test site for five multi-megawatt offshore wind turbines off the North Sea coast near Cuxhaven. With these several prototypes, DEWI performs all kinds of measurements ranging from machinery noise to mechanical loads on the rotor blades.
