4 a Safety a Safety. Classfcaton of acton-related warnngs The acton-related warnngs are classfed n accordance wth the severty of the possble danger usng the followng warnng symbols and sgnal words: Warnng symbol Sgnal word a Danger! e Danger! a Warnng. b Cauton.. Meanng of warnng symbols Explanaton. General safety nformaton Immnent danger to lfe or rsk of severe personal njury Rsk of death from electrc shock Rsk of mnor personal njury Rsk of materal or envronmental damage > Before nstallng the flue ppe, you must nform the local gas supply company and the master chmney sweep for the dstrct. Qualfcaton of the competent persons The nstallaton of the boler and ts flue must be carred out by a competent person approved at the tme by the Health and Safety Executve. Ths competent person s also responsble for proper executon. They must also comply wth the exstng drectves, regulatons and gudelnes. Dangers caused by flue gas ext n the event of mproper nstallaton. In the event of mproper nstallaton, there s a rsk that posonous gases may be emtted. > Ensure that the nstallaton s performed only by qualfed competent persons. Rsk of death by posonng due to escapng flue gases! All openngs n the flue ppe that can be opened for nspecton purposes must be closed before start-up and durng operaton. > The openngs must only be opened by a competent person. For open-flued operaton, the unt must not be placed n rooms from whch the ar s extracted usng fans (for example, ventlaton systems, extractor hoods, tumble dryer ventlaton). These systems generate negatve pressure n the room. Ths negatve pressure can cause flue gas to be sucked nto the nstallaton room from the openng through the annular clearance between the flue gas ppe and the shaft. The unt can be used n open-flued operaton f smultaneous operaton of the unt and the fan s not possble. Avod rsk of suffocaton! If the flue gas ppe s not concentrc and s therefore not ventlated from behnd, there s a danger of suffocaton n unventlated rooms. > These rooms must be equpped wth a ventlaton openng of 50 cm that leads nto the fresh ar. Prevent njures caused by snow fallng from roofs Where flue ppes penetrate the roof skn, the water vapour contaned n flue gas may precptate as ce on the roof or the roof structures n unfavourable weather condtons. > At the nstallaton ste, ensure that ths ce buld-up does not slde from the roof. Use of tools Unsutable tools or the mproper use of tools can cause damage (e. g. to casng and components). > Always use approprate screwdrvers or open-end spanners (fork wrenches) to loosen or tghten threaded connectons. > Never use ppe wrenches, extensons, or other smlar tools. Preventng the rsk of corroson n the flue gas nstallaton Sprays, solvents, cleanng agents, pants and adhesves may contan substances that could lead to corroson n the flue gas nstallaton n some crcumstances when the unt s n operaton. > Only use approprate Vallant components for nstallng the flue gas gudng. > Ensure that the combuston ar that s guded to the unt s kept free of chemcal substances that could contan, e. g. fluorne, chlorne, or sulphur. Preventng electronc damage and rsk of fre caused by lghtnng The unt can be damaged by the effects of lghtnng. > If the buldng s equpped wth a lghtnng protecton system, ncorporate the ar/flue gas ppe nto the lghtnng protecton. > If the vertcal flue gas ppe contans materals made from metal, ncorporate t nto the potental balancng. 5 a Safety a Malfunctons of the unt due to obstructon of the flue gas flow! If chppngs, mortar resdue, or smlar objects enter the flue ppe, the functon of the unt may be affected. > Durng nstallaton, ensure that no chppngs, mortar resdue, etc. reman n the flue ppe. Malfunctons and condensaton ext due to lack of tghtness n the flue gas route! The seals are senstve to mneral-ol-based grease. > If necessary, use ether water or the lubrcant provded. Fre protecton Outsde the shaft, the flue gas ppes that are not n a concentrc desgn must have a mnmum clearance of 5 cm to combustble components. In chmneys formerly used for ol or sold fuels, whch are now to be used for the supply of combuston ar, t s recommended that the chmney sweep nspects and cleans the flue n queston before the flue gas ppe s nstalled. If t s not possble to adequately clean or nspect the chmney (e. g. due to constructon features), you can use a separated ar supply or use open-flued operaton for the system.. Regulatons Observe the natonal regulatons, standards, gudelnes and laws..5 CE label The Vallant ecotec gas-fred wall-hung bolers are certfed accordng to the EU gas applances drectve 009//EC as a boler system wth assocated flue gas nstallaton. Ths nstallaton manual s a part of the certfcaton and s cted n the type testng certfcate. In complance wth the regulatory statutes of ths nstallaton manual, the proof of usablty of the products dentfed by Vallant artcle numbers that are desgned for the flue ppe s provded. If you do not use certfed elements for the Vallant flue ppe when nstallng Vallant ecotec gas-fred wall-hung bolers, ths vods the CE conformty of the unt. We therefore strongly recommend that you ft Vallant ar/flue gas systems. It s not necessary to leave a clearance between the concentrc flue ppe or the correspondng extenson and components made from combustble materals, because, at the nomnal heat output of the unt, components borderng the surface cannot reach temperatures hgher than 85 C..3 Intended use The Vallant flue ppes for ecotec plus are constructed usng state-of-the-art technology n accordance wth the recognsed safety rules and regulatons. Nevertheless, there s stll a rsk of death or serous njury to the user or others or of damage to the unt and other property n the event of mproper use or use for whch the unt s not ntended. The Vallant flue ppes named n ths manual must only be used n combnaton wth the unt types named n ths manual. Any other, or addtonal use s consdered mproper use and all responsblty or lablty of the manufacturer/suppler for any resultng damages s excluded. In ths case, the responsble competent person and the user bear the rsk. Intended use ncludes the followng: observance of accompanyng operatng, nstallaton and servcng nstructons for Vallant products as well as for other parts of components of the system nstallng and fttng the boler n accordance wth the boler and system approval complance wth all nspecton and mantenance condtons lsted n the nstructons. 25 System condtons 5 5. Performance features of the flue ppes from Vallant for condensng unts The ar/flue gas systems from Vallant demonstrate the followng performance features: Performance feature Temperature resstance: Leak-tghtness: Condensate resstance: Corroson resstance: Clearance from combustble materals: Installaton ste: Resstance to fre: Fre resstance tme: 5. Performance features Descrpton Adapted to the maxmum flue gas temperature of the unt Adapted to the unt for use n buldngs and outdoors Yes, for gas and ol Adapted to the gas and ol condensng boler - Concentrc flue gas ppe: No clearance requred - Non-concentrc flue gas ppe: 5 cm In accordance wth the nstallaton nstructons Normal level of flame resstance (n accordance wth EN 350- Class E) No, the external ppes of the concentrc system are not flammable. A requred fre resstance tme s provded by shafts wthn the buldng. 5.3 Requrements for the shaft for the flue ppe Flue ppes from Vallant do not have any fre resstance (drecton of operaton from the outsde to the nsde). If the flue ppe s guded through parts of a buldng that requre a level of fre resstance, a shaft must be ftted. The shaft must ensure the fre resstance (drecton of operaton from the outsde to the nsde) that s requred for the buldng parts through whch the flue gas nstallaton s guded. The requred fre resstance must demonstrate a sutable classfcaton (brck partton and heat nsulaton) and be suffcent for the buldng's requrements. Observe the natonal ordnances, regulatons and standards. An exstng chmney that was used for the flue gas evacuaton usually meets these requrements and can be used as a shaft for the flue ppe. The gas tghtness of the shaft must comply wth the test pressure class N n accordance wth EN 3. An exstng chmney that was used for the flue gas evacuaton usually meets these requrements and can be used as a shaft for the ar gudng. If the shaft s used to supply combuston ar, ths must be desgned and, n partcular, nsulated n such a way that no mosture (caused by the coolng of the shaft by cold combuston ar penetratng from the outsde) can penetrate the exteror of the shaft. An exstng chmney that was used for the flue gas evacuaton usually meets these requrements and can be used as a shaft for the ar gudng wthout the need for addtonal heat nsulaton. 5. Locaton of the openng Algn the openng of the flue gas nstallaton n such a way that ensures a secure outward flow and dstrbuton of the flue gases and prevents these gases from re-enterng the buldng through openngs (wndows, ar ntake openngs and balcones). The locaton of the flue gas nstallaton openng must comply wth the relevant applcable nternatonal, natonal and/ or local regulatons. 5.5 Dsposng of condensate When dsposng of the condensate nto the publc wastewater system, observe the local regulatons. Local regulatons may stpulate the mnmum qualty of any condensate that may enter the waste-water system, for example, through usng a condensate neutralser. Only use corroson-resstant ppng materal for removng condensate. 5.6 Route of the flue ppe n the buldng The route of the flue ppe should correspond to the shortest and the most drect dstance between the unt and the flue gas nstallaton openng, and t should run as straght as possble. Do not arrange several dversons mmedately after each other. Lay the flue ppe separately from the drnkng water ppes. As a result of standards relatng to the hygene of drnkng water, water ppes must be protected aganst mpermssble heatng. The entre length of the flue gas route must be nspected and, f requred, cleaned. It must be possble to remove the flue ppe agan wth a mnmal amount of effort (no tme-consumng mortsng work n the lvng area, but screwed-n claddng nstead). If they are arranged n shafts, they are usually easy to remove. Installaton manual for the flue ppe for ecotec plus _0 5
